Not much went on this chapter. But I’m assuming they will not do much investigating but who knows

So sad that they now have to run. And crazy what they did to the dad.

Also Matthew doesn’t seem to remember her. So awful how he’s living now.

Wow what a chapter 23

I didn’t see that coming! Surprise bang! So happy on both accounts finally. Still sad about Matthew though

Fell behind. End of the year craziness has brought some anxiety which means I can’t focus on reading it’s awful.

Chapter 22 thoughts

Can’t believe they let the dad out of Jail. The mom never pressed charges ugh! So sad that Matthew hasn’t woken up yet

Wow what a chapter I was on my edge of my seat when they fell down the mud slide. I sure hope they survive their injuries seem very bad especially the boy.

Hooray finally. But I think something bad is going to happen to the mom.

I was expecting her parents to return when it started to rain. Glad they didn’t but I didn’t read next chapter yet so it is still possible. I have a feeling the dad is going to lock them in and she won’t be able to escape for college

So proud of Leni getting into college and that everyone will help pay for her to go. Wish someone will help out our triplets I’m really scared that they may not be able to go because of lack of money. Will Leni be able to escape in September? Sad the dad won’t let her celebrate her graduation at the salon.

Wow imagine coming so close to bears and going on hiking boating trips right from school. So different from the world we live in.

Sad that earl died. But I really like how Thelma told the dad off.

Crazy how he still thinks the world is out to get them. Ok I was thinking that maybe he was going to kill them with the saw though or go over to that party’. Maybe I read too many horror books lol. But building a wall to Keep them in. He’s crazy!

Chapter 16 thoughts

So sad the dad takes out his anger on the mother. Crazy! I enjoyed the friendly scenes with Leni and Matthew. It’s a slow burn love. I thought they’d get caught ditching school but nope it wasn’t until later.

Chapter 15 thoughts

Oh my her dad is still in the war with his thoughts of bombs and people killing others. Like Tom walker is going to kill people for no reason. So glad that Thelma disagreed and was scared for her children. These three men are crazy and it doesn’t help that they are drunk too.

I am glad that Matthew is back and Leni and him are friends but I know once the dad knows it’s not going to be pretty!

Chapter 14 thoughts

I’m so happy to see Matthew again but so sad that Leni and him have to hide their friendship. The dads are crazy fighting each other.


By the way my friend at work finished this book and she told me it was her favorite. She hasn’t read a good book in a while and she gave it 5 stars and can’t wait to discuss the ending with me.

Seems silly that he’s mad that Tom wants to fix up the bar! Like come on wouldn’t you like a better place to drink your alcohol. Plus he’s giving jobs out. Ok i can see not having a hotel but the bar he should be happy about..

Chapter 12 thoughts

I was surprised the dad left for 4 years. Didn’t think he’d let them tell him what to do! But now he’s back and I see so he trouble brewing. Will he get revenge on the neighbors who made him leave?

I could not imagine having to hunt for their food. When Leni shot that lamb and was talking about cutting it up I was getting sick! I’d much rather just buy meat from the store where everything is done for you. I could not live in Alaska with the cold either.

Chapter 11 thoughts

Wow what a bumpy ride that chapter was. So sad for the mom and Leni. I was glad they were trying to get away. I’m glad that the neighbors noticed something wasn’t right and they are helping. I sure hope that the dad leaves without trouble but I think he needs to get some help with his tempter and drinking.

Chapter 10 thoughts

So sad that Matthew left I was hoping there would be more with her and him.

The dad still needs help. Drinking doesn’t help. I’m sure they don’t have a psychologist there to help with anger management. So sad that all their animals were attacked now they will not have any eggs.

Chapter 9 thoughts

I knew the dad had problems he seemed a little off! Strange that Leni never realized it in the past. Guess they hid it from her for most of her life. Sad that she’s training yet really not for the outside world but for her inside world.

The dad is really going nuts. He's being very military.

The father seems crazy. Like the world is ending and he wants everyone to follow him. He’s going to make everyone against each other. Not good!!
