There's a glitch in the add books/search feature right now so maybe that's why you couldn't find it easily.

It ended abruptly for me too, and that's why it didn't get 5 stars from me even though the next two books did.

I hope your furbaby/bunny gets well. I am slightly confused because it's sounds like they live/go outside. (I know nothing about rabbits clearly) Do you not have winter right now?

That sounds unfun. I hope you can get some sleep soon. It's really good that you got in for surgery right away even though recovery is tough.

152458 Happy check-in! I definitely had some trouble with cabin fever this past week. It's finally acting like winter here a.k.a. -20C with Windchill . Curb-side at the library and a grocery trip have done wonders though.
For those who need a laugh. My local university has an ad on tv from the alumni association in which they spell achievement wrong. I before e except after c. 🤦‍♀️

Wicked King and Queen Of Nothing ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love this series so it was very easy to convince me to buddy read.

The Silver Kiss ⭐⭐⭐
I love Blood and Chocolate by the same author so much that when a friend was talking about loving this one instead of Twilight I was curious. This was first published in the 90s so the library ebook had two extra short stories thrown in all about cat love. This is a decent book where a teenager falls in love with a vampire. There were moments of idiot Bella and Creepy Edward but it actually dealt with grief/loss/loneliness well.

Hidden Huntress ⭐⭐⭐
Book two in a ya fantasy series. This had about a hundred pages too many for me. The main character was just too slow in figuring things out that I got stalled a bit in the middle.

Tales From The Hinterland ⭐⭐ (2017 mentioned in another book)
I read The Hazel Wood duology and was always more interested in the fairy tales the author created so I was looking forward to this collection. It was a bit disappointing because every story was either about girls getting married off and it going bad or bad mothers so it was boring. Also the author was doing a good job of creating dark stories but it always became clear when she held back to keep it ya.

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Short Stories, Vol. 1 ⭐⭐
This was decent because I loved this show as a child. (Should I have? Probably not) I realize I didn't watch the show regularly enough to understand who the second/little sailor moon is but the stories were cute enough. It lost a star for the last page when the author ruined a character for no reason. 😒

Attachments ⭐⭐ (2017 a book of letters)
This was disappointing rom com. I am trying to use things already in my tbr for prompts so a book that half emails was the closest for this prompt. This has 89 chapters and it goes back and forth between the guy and the girl's emails. Set in the 90s right before y2k Lincoln is in IT nightshift at a newspaper. He is suppose to go through employee correspondence when it gets flagged and warn people. Instead he reads this women's emails to her best friend and falls for her. The emails in the book are hilarious and made me laugh out loud and be addicted to the book. The guy was depressing/little bit creepy and needed to stand up to his mother!

QOTW:
I don't think I've ever felt the need to read the original before the retelling. I read a ton of retellings but I usually find that out after the fact. I also end up watching a lot of movies before reading the book so I'm used to not worrying about that.

That looks really neat. Thanks for adding to my tbr.
152458 1. Are you reading Binti for the Afrofuturism prompt or for another?
I used another book by Okorafor for this prompt because I read the Binti novellas last year, and loved them.
2. Have you read other books in this genre before?
I believe so but I wasn't aware of this label/sub-genre before the popsugar list was put out.
3. What are you expectations of this story?
Going into the series I was hopeful that it would be as awesome as the muderbot diaries considering it is from Tor and this group highly recommended it as well. It didn't disappoint for me.
152458 @Allie you used the spoiler tags correctly no need to worry.

152458 Title: Shuri, Vol. 1: The Search For Black Panther
Author: Nnedi Okorafor
Would you recommend this book?
I would definitely recommend this book to people that love the marvel universe. I gave this 5 stars and I really enjoyed the crossovers that happened.

Thanks so much for the recommendations. I hadn't really heard of any of them but when I looked them up my reviewers had good things to say so to my shelves they have gone. Did you try Paper Girls, Vol. 1 by the same author as Saga? I read the first one but it was only a two star for me.

152458 Happy Thursday! It's been my best ever month for reading, 23 books and counting. Discovering how quick and enjoyable graphic novels are has contributed to this high number.
I'm looking forward to participating in the BOTM discussion of Binti whether I reread it in February is unclear.
I don't have anything picked out for black history month this year. I will probably be making a plan this week.

The Wicked + The Divine, Vol. 1: The Faust Act ⭐⭐ (PS 2021 somewhere you'd like to visit: England)
This series keeps popping up as a recommend because I love Saga, Vol. 1. This was a disappointment with very nice artwork. I'm going to read a few more in the series just to see where it goes but mostly it's just confusing.

The Guest List ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (PS 2017 a sub-genre you've never heard of: closed circle mystery)
This was an entertaining thriller. Some things were predictable some weren't. The author did a good job at keeping the mystery until then very end without it being frustrating.

Forbidden ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I borrowed this because I couldn't remember if I had read it before or not. Turns out I had read this novella in a anthology before. Still awesome from a fave series.

Ms. Marvel, Vol. 1: No Normal ⭐⭐
This was okay. I love more diversity within the marvel world but the main character annoyed me. The story line was boring as well.

I don't follow any celebrity bookclubs currently. However I keep reading things from Reese's and so I do look through her list every now and then. Last year I read these two gems: The Henna Artist and Fable. Both have sequels out this year. I did look through Oprah's list a lot last year because I did the PS 2016 prompts and an Oprah list book was required. I ended up reading Where the Heart Is. Oprah's list does have a lot of depressing looking books but I do want to read a bunch of them.
