147920 I've finished this book today. I liked the style of Clarke, also if in some points the story is more close to an astronomical atlas, there are a few moments of action. I think So, I'll read the others book of the series, as soon as possible.

147920 I know, I'm late:

Level 5

Stranger in a Strange Land (Read)
2001: A Space Odyssey (I'm reading)
Dune Messiah
The War of the Worlds
Solaris

This is my plan. We'll see what I can do.

147920 I've almost read the first half of the book. Good pace, interesting descriptions, very close to the scientific reality.

147920 I've finished yesterday and I am a little confused about this book. There are so many philosophical discussions, moral and religious disquisitions. I mean, I liked it but I have the sensation of not having fully understand or "grokked" all.

I've been hearing about the Harry Hole series lately. I'm always on the lookout for new mystery series."

Unfortunately the one I read about Harry Hole is the last, so I have to forgotten all and restart with the first. But it's promising.

147920 I've finished this book some minutes ago and in the whole I liked the story and the universe that Herbert has created. There are some boring things, for example the part of reasonings about philosophy and theological or the appendices at the end of the book (except the one about terminology), too complex.
Interesting is the evolution of Paul like character, and the grow of his power that corresponding to a loss of power and control by his mother. I think that in the next year I'll read the next books.

147920 I'm at the beginning of the third part. I've noted often that the Atreides are described like and honored and loyal house, but here lady Jessica consider the Freemen like a mere instrument for reach a goal and I dislike her aristocratic ways and the influence of Bene Gesserit on other's life.
Interesting is the approach to the Freemen culture, their rites and beliefs. Very useful in this case the Appendices at the end of the book. The second part was a bit boring for me, but I hope that will be better.

147920 I started the book today, and I came back to mind the movie of the 80s, by David Lynch with Sting and Kyle MacLachlan. The pace is a little slow, with a first part of introduction, but it's easy to read.

147920 I've started a couple of days ago The Wind Through the Keyhole, so with this I'll close 'The Dark Tower' series. Unless Stephen King write another book next year.

I never read Duma Key, it should be a good opportunity for a Buddy read. When would you read this?

I read it some months ago. I liked it, also it's a very raw story, but very intriguing.

Really? Nah! I'm sure that at this time you are looking for another King's book. It's like a drug, in the right sense. :)

147920 I like a book that give me what promise, a strong character an intriguing plot and a good twist is always a good premise. The genre influence my expectations, but I don't like banal dialogues, romance that take an half of a book or those characters that make everything better than anyone in any situation effortlessly.

Yes, Heena this is a great part. All elements seem to converge there and that's not all, but you'll see. Yes the dead of Gage is sad, but the main protagonist in this book is the evil and the influence it has on humans.
A great book for this first reading!

147920 I've finished this book some minutes ago. Wow, since Gage's death is a cycle of events swaying between insanity and nightmare. A great story and a majestic work of Stephen King!

147920 I'm on chapter 40. This second part is started with a punch in the stomach. Things get interesting and terrifying and I agree, the happy ending is always farther.
