137842 Great work, Danielle!

I'm only 4 books away... and I can't read any of them simultaneously because, well, they're a series! :P

137842 Yeah I need the O and three Es for my Monster Mash Up!
Oct 30, 2014 11:31AM

137842 I'll be reading all four of these in November :D

137842 These books are great! Fast, easy, and extremely fun reads. Urban Fantasy at its best, with some great characters, interesting plots, and fun fun FUN!

137842 LK, I saw you were setting up picks for Historical Fiction. Just wanted to let you know that I don't have anything historical fiction to read and not much room on my reading plan for November anyways, so there won't be one from me! :)
137842 So, I've finally finished book two, and man, what a ride!!!!!

I enjoyed book one, but book two was SO MUCH MORE FUN. The plot twists were great, the explanation of the murderer's plan was an awesome reveal, and I enjoyed that pretty much all the characters got more "screen time."

Can't wait to read Blood of My Blood!

137842 Wow, I didn't think I'd get to my staff pick this month, Blackbirds. But I picked it up a few days ago, and today, I'm almost done with book two. I couldn't put them down. There's a lot of potty mouth (which I'm fine with, as I too am a potty mouth) and a few rather un-funny abuses of the word "retard" and a joke/weird conversation about rape in the first one. Those made me uncomfortable, but I pushed through and am glad I did, because Chuck Wendig has other characters (in book two) make Miriam Black think about her flippant uses of those two things and makes up for that stuff in book one.

I gave book one 4 stars, losing a star for the aforementioned things. But book two is going to get 5 stars. It was better in almost all aspects, as it builds the mythology more, develops the recurring characters more, and makes up for those bad things from book one.

I'll definitely be adding these to my list to keep up with release dates!

137842 I'm reading Blue Labyrinth (Pendergast, #14) by Douglas Preston and Mockingbird (Miriam Black, #2) by Chuck Wendig , and will pick up Burn for Me (Hidden Legacy, #1) by Ilona Andrews soon as well.

137842 Go LK!
137842 I can't read the first six, since I've read them within the past six months, but I'll try to hold off on the last two for buddy reads :D
Oct 24, 2014 04:27AM

137842 I love them equally :)

137842 I like the cover... But I'd be happier if it was the book in my hands right now and not the cover to look at and tease me for months.
