I think we can do that :)

118012 Cindy wrote: "Have more creative challenges. I like themes. Sometimes it seems like the same mini challenges are recycled from the last year..."

Cindy, many will be recycled again because we still have lots of people interested in them who either haven't had a chance to complete them yet, or who do enjoy repeating challenges.

We'll try to have a good mix of new and returning challenges for those who don't want to repeat, but feel free to offer any ideas you'd like for us to develop!

I still really like this idea, Camille, especially because it offers more flexibility in choosing what to read. Are you thinking that we'd collect theme nominations and do a poll every month? Or choose themes ahead of time?
118012 Finish 2016 by traveling to Japan. This month's group read is The Makioka Sisters by Jun'ichirō Tanizaki.
118012 Discuss December's alternate group read here. We're reading Mansfield Park by Jane Austen.

Do you have any specific lists that you'd like to focus on for Let's Have Pie, Martha?

118012 We're looking for ideas for next year's reading challenges! Please consider the following questions and give any constructive feedback that you have to offer. This group is for all of us, so we value your input!

1. What do you like, that you would like to see continue next year?
2. Do you have any ideas for new challenges?
3. Is there anything you would change about current challenges?
4. Group reads - which genres do you like best? Any improvements you would suggest here?
5. Is there anything you'd like to see more of?
6. Is there anything you could do without?

118012 December Book Tag

How many books will you tag this month?

*Each book you tag earns 5 points. (Completed books.)

*Add to that 5 points for each group activity that you participate in with that book. Tag it with as many as you can - challenges, games, group reads, buddy reads, readathons - to get the most out of it.

*25 bonus points if you meet your personal monthly goal (number of books read).

*10 bonus points for each challenge or game for which you complete a level during the month.

*You don't have to read the exact books that you plan - the number is what's important, and you determine what is reasonable for you. You're only competing against yourself, so help yourself meet those goals!

118012 Congrats, Agnik!!

118012 I finished Half-Blood Prince a few weeks ago. I still really loved it this time. I like that we get some good time at Hogwarts. I know other people have complained that nothing happens, but I don't feel that way. The ending.... still terrible, but I think I've managed to accept it since the first time I read it.

Camille, I can see your points, but for some reason those things don't bother me!
Nov 23, 2016 10:13AM

118012 I finished my upper half! Just two books to go, so I think I'll make it by December.
Nov 22, 2016 08:45AM

118012 I'm an Exacting Reader - haha, you wouldn't think so looking at how many books I have on my shelves, but it's actually true. My main use of Goodreads is to hone in on what I like so I can plan my future enjoyment more effectively. Once I find out what I don't like, I'll avoid books like that in the future. It's not about broadening horizons for me, lol.
