That makes me feel a bit better :D

Good luck, everyone! Some great goals here.
Trisha wrote: "Was it the fashion to write huge amounts about nothing?...""Ha, yeah. I guess we're just getting to know the characters as they are? I've noticed the same thing with older films - they dwell on lots more detail than the current day ones. I think our attention span has reduced greatly in the last few decades!

It's not too late, Paula. Looks like you're well on your way already!
Welcome to you too, Isabel.

It does sound great! I'm slowly getting into it, reading just a bit each day. I'm up to chapter 21 and although nothing has really happened yet, it's getting more interesting.
Renee wrote: "I ended up with Penric’s Demon, which is an earlier book in the series with Curse of Chalion, my original choice. So far it’s really good! :)"That's a good place to start, especially if you're not getting a lot of reading time. Not too hard to get into.
Trisha wrote: "Sorry, Allison, I didn’t mean to post in the wrong place. ..."No worries! I just realized I needed to make it more clear in the intro.

Trisha, you're way ahead of me already! So far I've just been reading a couple chapters at a time because I need something that doesn't require too much thought at the end of the day. I'm glad to hear that book 2 is picking up the pace.
You might not have seen the beginning of the discussion where we planned to use the old buddy read threads to split up the book discussion. There's a thread for each book so that slower readers don't get spoiled. I've just added links to the threads in the very top post so everyone can find them more easily.

It's not too late, Trisha. I've barely started and expect it's going to take me a while. Glad you're joining!

Daughter of the Pirate King looks intriguing, Amber. Enjoy!

Same here - I should be able to get some good reading in this weekend.

Not yet. I need more reading time!

Glad to have you along, and graphic novels are just fine.

I think it's counting re-reads in the stats, which actually makes my list more accurate than it used to be.

I think it could go either way!

I'm kind of surprised to find that my most-read author is Georgette Heyer! I had no idea I'd read so many of her books (32, apparently).

Glad you're joining us, Tiffany!
