(view spoiler)[ Marlene has quite a quick temper, often lashing out against anybody nearby who angers her. When upset she'll often yell or throw things, although she has been working on preventing that. She is normally able to prevent it, but there's just something about her husband, Delroy, that just brings out the worst in her. She's quite different when anybody but Delroy is around. When around Delroy she's a bitter, angry mess who can barely handle somebody disagreeing with her, but when not around him she's nicer than usual. She still angers easily, but her reactions are not as intense. She seems like an actual human being instead of a ball of just rage and manipulation. She has a soft side that barely anybody sees, it only seems to be visible to those she loves.

(view spoiler)[Marlene was always told that she had to be perfect for whoever she was meant to marry. She hadn't met him until she was maybe around 14, and he seemed amazing. She thought he'd be an amazing person to marry, but she never really got to know who he was. He never even talked to her, unless he absolutely needed to. She never took notice of that, she was just a young stupid kid. From the few conversations they did have, he seemed amazing, yet she had doubts. She wasn't sure it truly was love, although she didn't have time to think about that, and before she knew it she was married. It was only then that she realized, she wasn't attracted to men. She realized, it truly wasn't love. She began to dread the coming days, the sex was horrible. Delroy began having these outbursts, and they began to rub off on her. She began to hate her parents for forcing her to set her up with this stupid fucking man, this horrible man, this disgusting being. It was a year and a half after they got married that they had their first child, and by then she was a changed person. She was no longer the hopeful child who loved everything. She was now a bitter adult, who got mad at the simplest things and hated almost everything that had to do with her husband. She became so . . . destructive, going as far to almost kill Delroy without even batting an eye. She knew he was cheating for a long time, it was obvious even before any of the other children were born, and she honestly had been too. The only reason she had other children was that she knew Delroy hated the sex too. Around the age of 25, she began painting as a therapeutic skill. She had often locked herself in her room, painting for hours, just to avoid Delroy. It become a helpful distraction, it became a reason to simply piss off Delroy by locking herself in their room.
