I miss the tude as well. Mac 5.0 was perfection. I didn't think she'd be scared to use her spear.

Da first brought Mackenzie Bishop here four years ago, when she was twelve years old, frightened but determined to prove herself. Now Da is dead, and Mac has grown into what he once was, a ruthless Keeper, tasked with stopping often—violent Histories from waking up and getting out. Because of her job, she lies to the people she loves, and she knows fear for what it is: a tool for staying alive.
Being a Keeper is dangerous and a constant reminder of those she lost, Da and her little brother. Mac wonders about the boundary between living and dying, sleeping and waking. In the Archive, the dead must never be disturbed. Yet someone is deliberately altering Histories, erasing essential chapters. Unless Mac can piece together what remains, the Archive itself might crumble and fall."

Part of my thing is a lot of things lost their purpose. Dancer is going to be an unnecessary character that will probably just disappear. What was the point of Ryodan/Jo? That was annoying as feck in Iced. Then, Burned starts and they're just like 'Well, we're done here.' What was the point of the contract that they just ripped up? We never found out what that spell did, and now we won't.
I think the best part was the dialogue and getting to know more about the nine. I laughed a little. I missed those characters. I remember Mac being a lot more of a badass in Shadowfever, though. What happened to her? Oh, and the DEG. He was one of my favorites, too.
I absolutely HATED Jada. Partly, I think because they gave her POV chapters before I knew who she was, and I thought she was horribly boring and annoying. And then I found out that that was what KMM did to Dani. And I was like )))))))): I feel like it was a cop-out, and KMM is a good enough writer that she didn't have to take it. Dani could have come back changed-Dani. That would have been enough and I would have been okay with it.
Also, when Jada said that sex was unnecessary unless you plan on reproducing, which she doesn't I was like ))): She is complete robot.
She knows stuff about the Nine, though. I want to know it. And I want to know how she found out and where she has been.
AND ARE BARRONS AND THAT KELTER THAT THEY THOUGHT WAS DEAD TURNING UNSEELIE PRINCE IN THAT ROOM IN CHESTERS? KMM HAD BETTER NOT BE TURNING BARRONS UNSEELIE PRINCE.
Not okay, Karen. Not okay.

This comment is perfect.
When I read erotica, I tend to go for something with a fucked up or paranormal vibe. Maybe some dystopia. Normal romance of any kind is not really included in my literary diet. If The Fae Chronicles could be a movie...oh man.
Related: You know, Fever was optioned for a movie like...years ago. There's nothing in production or anything going forward with it...which is good because you couldn't successfully make it a movie. It needs too much world-building. A TV show, yes. If I could see Mac and Barrons on TV, I'd be so happy.

Also, in the first few pages...when the book starts in 1995...it mentions that she has a...I think it was 7....year old daughter and this human lover she's been with for some time that doesn't know what she is. Odd that with that, the age thing wouldn't be addressed. I'm enjoying the book, though (:

I don't even understand what they're doing with that movie because, first of all, it isn't unrated. Secondly, the trailer makes it look like a mushy love story. I mean, like I said, haven't read it but that seems inaccurate. Heard on the radio that they don't show any cock, also.
