116885 The bedrock of the story comes from The Shadow Over Innsmouth and, obviously, the mythos as a whole. I should have mentioned the next story in my omnibus is The Thing on the Doorstep (1933). Maybe I will make some time today.

116885 Some of my favorite quotes thus far:

“Above all else it was the scent and touch of printed paper that assured me of safety.”

“A billion years is a long while.”
I shrugged. “It depends on your perspective, I suppose.”

“I never married. A woman with a brain who marries is a fool. Men will eat you alive.”

116885 I’m 80 pages in and just was considering taking a break because an important reference has come up for one of the few Lovecraft stories I have not read. When I picked up my omnibus, there it was with my bookmark, the next story I was supposed to read. Well, I will have to enjoy retroactive reference because this is too good to stop now!

116885 The library came through and I have them in hand! Fiona requested a Buddy Read so here we are. All are welcome worship the wonder and glory forever.
116885 The Shape of My Name by Nino Cipri ★★★☆☆
An angry-at-my-mom trans time travel story.

The Language of Knives by Haralambi Markov ★★★★☆
While I loved the strange pagan death cake ceremony, this story was more about a father and daughter grieving their loss together.

I keep imagining this fight scene from The Punish..."

That was excellent.

While I have enjoyed him, and some of his work, I think Red Notice has “that Ryan Reynolds movie feel.”

116885 Yeah, I saw that too. It has things I like but overall it has this B-Movie feel.

116885 Scriptless shows have been tried before but this might be the one. https://youtu.be/nR9DjRWK3-A
116885 It was. I’m picking up her books from the library tomorrow.
116885 Please Undo This Hurt by Seth Dickson ★★★☆☆
That was hard dull pain stretched to into a story. Basically, two people contemplating suicide.

Reborn by Ken Liu ★★★★★
A tale of brutal conquerors remade into beneficent leaders through the power of forgetting. It’s a skill they forcefully share to remake a better world, but humans find memories, especially painful memories, hard to let go. All in all, it was an excellent episode of The Outer Limits.

116885 Just bought one of these anti-microbial recycled copper cases for my iPhone. They sent me a 15% discount code for myself, or a friend, valid for 48 hours. If you are going to buy one DM me for the code.

Brimstone and Marmalade by Aaron Corwin ★★★★☆
Almost amazing: I loved this little pet demon! But the story lacked a vengeful ending and some wanton violence. Ix’thor would be ashamed of his minion.
116885 Sounds good Fiona. I put them on hold at the library. I will likely get the audible too but I want these stories in hand.

116885 Yes it was. There was so much room for interesting and entertaining without scrapping the gutter.

116885 It didn’t. DNF. I have no interest in reading about the exploits of a sexually obsessed junkie thief: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Litany of Earth by Ruthanna Emrys ★★★★★
This is the best mythos story I have ever read. Ms. Emrys, you have made me a believer! I must now read everything the gods have bid you write.
