After the People Lights Have Gone Off ★★★★☆ “In some houses love really can last forever.”
That was beautiful and disturbing. A disabled sleepwalker was scary visual! I wish the story included what happened to the mother.
Xebico ★☆☆☆☆ Animal violence. A guy is working as a stage hand, he gets confused, there’s a murdered dog - the end. WTF?
Jack Ryan season 3 going off piste: https://youtu.be/gzaAIESlfHACould be great, could be an overlong crapsickle, hard to tell.
The Dead Are Not ★☆☆☆☆ Cancer, grief, aliens… nothing happens.
Thanks for sharing guesses on This is Love Fiona.
Doc’s Story ★★★★☆ “We’re werewolves, this is what we do. This is how we live - if you want to call it that.”
This is was so depressing, dark and strange that it felt real.
Snow Monsters ★★☆☆☆Possibly, through death magic, parents save their children. I was two minutes into the next story before I realized Snow Monsters had ‘concluded.’
The Spindly Man ★★☆☆☆ A book club reads some Stephen King. Did something interesting happen? Was it imagination?
What’s with these stories!?!? Some body grab a knife and go hunt a monster.
This Is Love ★★★☆☆ Again, this ended too abruptly. What the heck happened? Did he accidentally run over his boyfriend? Did his boyfriend run away after finding a child’s body? Did the camp families find a child’s dead body then see a skimpily dressed man looking under bathroom stalls? So much of the story sounded like things he thought were happening or might happen. It read like a bad dream of a toxic relationship that might have ended with violence and a Groundhog Day nightmare.
Thirteen ★★★½☆ No don’t end there! I felt like the story was just getting legs! I hope he writes a Native American Tattoo Artist book.
Anniversary Project by Joe Haldeman DNFSometimes when people write about the future it’s so deeply foreign as to be unintelligible. That may be accurate, but it makes for a crappy story.
