1166052 Completed Star Wars Outlaws. It was alright. I’d say pretty good but seen and done it all before in other open world games. I think the plus points: its combat is enjoyable, stealth is fine, good SW nostalgia, variety of locations. Take or leave the space combat - basically ok. The negative points: the resolution is awful even on a Pro, some really annoying and not very enjoyable boss fights (Benny Hill comes to mind, especially the final boss fight which was a long drawn out Benny Hill stealth level) and the world environments albeit look alright feel lacking in immersion. Defo worth a play at the right price. It’s enjoyable without being anything special. 7/10 on the r-score-o-meter.
1166052 I tried My first gran turismo. I gave up on the third music trial. Terrible drawn out concept and the driving. I know it’s supposed to be a sim but it’s so wooden, like driving a plank of wood. Not for me.
1166052 Indiana Jones is getting good reviews. Might make it my next game after Outlaws.
1166052 It wasn't me - I just watch them on the telly. He's had a decent start to his Man Utd career. Arsenal only beat us on set-pieces and otherwise we looked solid without having a real threat. He needs time to get in his own players as clearly we have a lot of players that need moving out. He can't polish a turd :-). We've bought a lot of very medicore players and have a lot of players without the right mindset.

So...anyone excited for Indiana Jones?

I myself have high hopes that it can be a cool game."

It looks OK but I've not seen much game play. And apparently it has 4 hours of cut scenes. I suspect it will be underwhelming but Ill play it for free.
1166052 Best bet it is to enter the model of your TV that you're thinking of buying into rtings.com. See what they say. They are really thorough and cover things like HDR gaming.
1166052 Everyone chosen their 30th Anniversary theme on their PS5. Which is your favourite? Gone for PS1 for now myself.

Difficult to say on whether 900 euro can be justified for an OLED. Only you will know that once you try it. For me OLED makes a big difference for gaming - better colours, better contrast which all makes the game details pop more. However, personally I much prefer the QD-OLEDs - they are very bright for an OLED - from Samsung (and LG do an equivalent with different tech but again much brighter than the norm) but they cost and unfortunately this year only the Q90D 65inch is actually quantum dot and the others aren't even though they advertise them as such. The thing to remember about the more traditional WOLEDs is that they are not very bright and in a bright room you will struggle to see the picture during bright daylight hours.
1166052 Morning all. It's increasingly becoming quieter around here. Anyways. I played more Star Wars Outlaws over the weekend and I've visited three worlds now with the latest being Tatooine - which is my favourite world so far and of course the most nostalgic. Looks like I've got only a few hours to go to complete the campaign. And I have to say it's been a mixed bag but I have actually really enjoyed it. On Tatooine had my first boss fight which was really frustrating and not very well done - it worked ok but why create such an annoying boss fight. Like Benny Hill running around a room.
1166052 I'll expect something. I'll let you know ;)

I've been keeping an eye on the 65inch Samsung S90D which was well over £3000 on launch but is now £1599 but I'm seeing if it will go lower next spring.
1166052 Generally speaking TVs are cheapest around April/May. TVs are updated each year a bit like smart phones so they phase out last year's model at a cheaper price and launch the new models at inflated prices. In other words, you're getting last year's model at a cheaper price before the launch of the new model. In some cases taking expensive OLED TVs for example you're paying on launch £2000+ (sometimes nearer £3000) and in the following year in April/May you would get the same TV for £1200-1500. Means you need to keep a close eye on prices earlier in the year so you don't miss the cheaper-price boat. Best places to buy TVs are John Lewis, Richer Sounds and one or two others as they tend to offer free 5-6 year warranties but check before you buy (and I've used these extended warranties a couple of times no problem to replace broken TVs and even to get complete refunds years later if they cannot replace like with like).
1166052 Not all mini-LEDs are the same. Depends on the number of dimming zones. More dimming zones the better the contrast and the blacks. And quite often the manufacturers don't advertise how many dimming zones there are so might be worth putting the model number of the TV you're interested in into rtings.com and they have probably measured it for you. And generally it's good to check on rtings on what they think of the TV generally for gaming, HDR gaming, normal TV use etc. OLED is defo the best technology but unfortunately it costs.
1166052 It’s a good game Deckard. Along the lines of Left4Dead but Warhammer. On Xbox Series X it had pretty low resolution at 60fps so I hope the Pro does its job. The artwork though is very good.
1166052 Yea defo worth a purchase at your chosen price point. I had PS Store vouchers so it didn’t feel like I was spending my own money 😀.
1166052 Morning all. I played a good chunk of Star Wars Outlaws over the weekend. On to my third world. It's actually pretty good without it being anything new. Not seen any forced stealth as I believe it's now patched out of the game. I like the combat and stealth is still very much part of the game play but doesn't feel forced and is fairly basic anyway. In parts it does feel nicely Star Wars, like when you're inside an imperial base. Not a big fan of the space combat - it's alright but not my bag really. The hacking/lock-pick mini-games I don't like - they're far too frequent but you can turn them off in the settings. All in all I'm enjoying it. The graphics though - if this is a Pro enchanced game then I wouldn't like to see the standard version. Looks worse fidelity wise than Jedi Survivor. If it was actually 4k, or somewhere close, then it would look very nice as the art style is good. Starting to think PSSR really isn't that great. Glad I got it though as it has its hooks in me - I found it hard to put down over the weekend.

In other news. My missus is gaming on my standard PS5 that I moved to the living room when I got my Pro. Made it my primary console and she's downloading games from PS Plus (on my PSN ID) and then switching to her newly created PSN ID and playing games for free. She's been playing The Gardens Inbetween and Lego Lord of the Rings. She's been gaming as much as me over the weekend. She's a gamer anyway but on mobile but she does play MMOs, not Candy Crush or anything like that.
1166052 I’ve hawed a couple of Black Friday purchases. Star Wars Outlaws and Spider-Man 2. Looks like Stalker 2 needs a few patches as apparently it’s full of bugs and performance issues. So, think it’s Star Wars for me next. I’ve not even finished Space Marine 2 yet 😛. And I’m not even that excited to start playing it again for some reason. I guess the Pro is partially to blame for that - if it hasn’t got a Pro patch then I’m not playing it (yet).
1166052 I think I may have found a game on the Pro I'm happy with with it's Pro enhancements. Blops 6 has increased resolution over the standard PS5 at 60Hz but with frame rate unlocked and with a VRR TV that's often 90-100fps which looks super smooth (can barely tell the difference compared to 120Hz mode), no screen tearing or stutter because of VRR and noticeably sharper. Not that it was bad before but of the Pro enhanced games I own this seems to be the best one for me so far.

I see Stalker 2 is released and I watched game play last night. To me it looks very good but also a very unnerving experience. Looks like a cross between Metro and Fallout. I might start it this weekend. I'll see.
1166052 I see Star Wars Jedi Survivor on PS5 Pro is getting a bad review from Digital Foundry. PSSR is pretty much broken on it. And they mentioned the aliasing too which I’m noticing more and more.
1166052 I think there is a placebo effect. I thought some games looked better on my Pro but when I look at the same game on PS5 standard they look just as good. I think there are some games that look better like Rebirth but I don’t own the game. By all accounts, according to Digital Foundry, the PS4 boost mode is pretty negligible. Mostly sharpens on screen text.

Anyway. Finished TLOU Left Behind, which I played before on PS3 I think. It was ok. Not the highlight of TLOU. Graphically it does look very very nice. I think it’s back to Space Marine 2 for me next. I’ve also been playing a lot of Blops 6 multiplayer which I have to say is very good. Been getting some good results too, so not too bad for an old boy.
1166052 I think I may have created a monster, DF Deckard.

I’m starting to think the Pro is actually a bit shit. I’ve been playing Warframe and TLOU pt1 and both have Pro graphical modes that use PSSR. And both have standard upscaling performance modes where the base resolution is the same as the PSSR mode. Comparing standard upscaling performance mode vs PSSR both games have much more visible aliasing in PSSR mode. And to me both games look just as crisp resolution wise when they use standard upscaling. So it’s PSSR disabled for me on these two games. PSSR might be better for upscaling from lower base resolutions.
1166052 There isn't much I want at the moment. Ony really Star Wars Outlaws, Spideman 2 and Alan Wake 2 DLC. And if they are not in a sale with a decent amount off I won't be buying them.
