1166052 I don’t disagree but personally I’m saving a small fortune as most of the games I want to play are on games pass. I literally pay nothing, not even the sub (anyone can do this), however I think that might be about to change - well, I have a free sub until January ‘28 😀. I don’t think I’ll have the patience to continue as the MS points cost per monthly ultimate subscription looks set to rise and the effort won’t be worth the return. I have played a few games on plus extra but not much for several months except the games on the monthly essential line-up.
1166052 I’ve downloaded FBC Firebreak too but no idea if I’ll get around to playing it. I’m pretty disappointed with PS Plus Extra so I’m going to downgrade to Essential when my current sub expires. Essential seems to have the games I’ve played anyway. Games Pass is consistently updated with bangers and has kept me busy since the latter half of last year which is keeping me off my favoured Pro, but DS2 should remedy that.
1166052 I just went for the standard version with some pre-order bonus items. I’m not paying an extra tenner for two day early access although it does have some exo-skeletons included which were tempting but I’m sure I’ll get them as the campaign progresses.
1166052 I’m back gaming a bit more. Completed Doom The Dark Ages and yea I really enjoyed it. Typical Doom combat and I liked the bigger maps and the exploration gathering keys and collectibles. And a lot more fun than Eternal. 8/10 on the r-score-o-meter.

I’ve pre-ordered Death Stranding 2, with some PS Store credit I got at Christmas, and thought that would be my next game in a couple of weeks time. And then I looked on Games Pass and there is a remastered version of Warhammer 40k Space Marine 1 (from 2011) in 4k 60fps - just released - and after initially finding it a bit dated, after a couple of missions it’s really got its hooks into me. Great level design and really fun combat, and I’m already nearly half way through the campaign. For some reason only released on Xbox and PC, no PS5 version.
1166052 Enjoy your Pro Phil. Not sure I’d use the extractor fan myself. Consoles are much better designed and engineered nowadays so should never overheat if well ventilated and if they do there is either a fundamental fault which no extraction fan can help or poor ventilation - as in enclosed in a cabinet for example. Adding “extra ventilation” might do more harm than good, working against or interfering with the in-built ventilation.

I’m looking forward to playing Death Stranding 2 on Pro, should look amazing.

Gaming wise for me just cracking on with Doom the dark ages. On chapter 15. I’m enjoying it and some of the levels are really big and engrossing. Xbox Games Pass has been consistently excellent since last year so my Pro is not getting much of a look in at the moment. DS2 will change that however.
1166052 Never a truer thing has been said Deckard ;-).

I've not been gaming much. Real world stuff has been getting in the way, in a good way. I have put an hour or two here and there into Doom The Dark Ages and on the whole enjoying it and it definitely can be as easy as you like which I guess probably doesn't sit well with true Doom fans. I'm on chapter 8 I think. The usual Doom combat is pretty good, the story I couldn't care less about, but I'm not sure the flying and mech parts (I don't remember Mech levels in earlier Doom games but I could be wrong) for me are the weakest parts. Halo does the flying much better. They're OK but in all honesty I don't think they add much - variety yea, but I'm happy with the Doom core game play. I do like the parrying and shield though - that's a really good addition. I don't like the 'parrying' when flying the mech dragon thingy.
1166052 Which TV did you get Phil?
1166052 I didn't know that. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing. Like you say there wasn't much to do outside of the main campaign in the previous Mafia games but I still liked the openness of the world in Mafia 3. Mafia 2 was good though and from what I can remember it wasn't completely open world. Still I think this game could be a purchase down the line rather on release. DS2 will be release day for me and I think that's out next month and if it's a 60-90 hour game it'll take me months to complete.
1166052 Mafia the old country is on my wish list. I enjoyed 2 and 3. From the game play I’ve seen it looks good. My most anticipated game is Death Stranding 2 and from previews it is sounding very good. Could be a much longer campaign than the first however and the first took me a good 40 hours, if not more. Might have to take a mid game break like I did with MGS5 and play something else for a while.
1166052 I've not started anything new since binning off Oblivion. Hate to say it but Doom Dark Ages looks incredible - reviews are glowing - so looks like that's my next game and if it becomes a frustrating nighmare I'll just play as much as I can bare. Over the weekend I played several hours of Blops 6 multiplayer on the new maps Haven and Signal and actually really enjoyed it - good but simple MP fun.
1166052 Boltgun is apparently frustratlingly difficult too so it's put me off even though I don't care about plats. I'm still contemplating whether to play Doom the Dark Ages as the previous Doom even on easy was a frustrating nightmare to play - although I did finish it, in the end, but I felt like like a nervous wreck afterwards.
1166052 Yea I thought that and it definitely has that old school feel to its game play and missions. It’s a good game just not for me. And credit to the devs they did a great job. I thought I might like it having completed Skyrim, fallout 3, 4 and NV but nope.
1166052 I’ve not been gaming much recently but I put in a few more hours into Oblivion. Decided to bin it off. Really wasn’t feeling it. Such a frustrating game at times and not fun. Had enough of the lock picking for a start. Had all of my weapons taken off me in a main quest. Got further into the game and not enough is explained. Got to find some glow dust, googled it and i just can’t be bothered with the tedious hoops to jump through. Avowed and Dragon Age were right up my street but not this. Have no idea what to play next. I was on a long run of really fun back to back games then I played Oblivion. At least it didn’t cost me money.
1166052 Finished South of Midnight. I certainly enjoyed it. Stunning graphics and artwork, amazing world, not so bad platforming and pretty mediocre combat. 7.5 on the r-score-o-meter.

I’ve started the Oblivion remaster. Initial impressions were very good, getting through the introduction dungeon area and breaking out into the outside world. Loved it, looks great bar the performance issues, and was hooked. Then the frustrations started. Into another dungeon following the mission way marker to a hard lock pick. Why? The game has just started. So had to back track. Then one of the early missions in the Imperial City and I must have committed a crime without my knowledge and every f’er is after me - I mean everyone at once. I should have gone to jail probably to rid myself of my wanted level but I persevered. I’m on the verge of binning it off - it’s not been fun except for the first couple of hours.
1166052 Plat cravings. I didn’t know that was a thing.
1166052 Yea I was going to ask if anyone is buying Oblivion. Included on Games Pass so I know where I’m playing it after South of Midnight. I do wonder if it will be much better on Pro but I’m not paying £60 to find out. And they call it a remaster. Looks to me to be a full on remake - graphically looks completely overhauled.

Has anyone bought Indiana Jones yet? It’s on PS5 now. I loved it so you know it’s good 😉.
1166052 Morning all. Played a lot of South of Midnight over the weekend and about half way through. It's definitely a mixed bag but the graphics, artwork and music are all superb - the graphics are very impressive. It's worth playing just for these three things alone. The story touches on some hard subjects too, surprising for a video game - story though is pretty decent. What lets it down is the game play. The platforming is OK - fun enough - but kinda done it seen it all before and quite often better elsewhere. The combat though - every enounter is the same with the same enemies mostly and in closed off areas that all look very samey regardless of the artwork preceding it. The combat is adequate but it's far from anything special - they add new mechanics gradually through the campaign but again each mechanic is a variation on a theme. Had a couple of boss fights which again just plain OK. Shame really as the graphics, artwork and music are all 9-10/10 - all very polished. The game play however scrapes a 7/10 (perhaps 6/10 is more the mark but everything else is so good).
1166052 For £70 it will pay for itself probably with two games purchases considering how much cheaper older games on disc are compared to digital. I can add the games to my display collection too. One day these disc games could be collectors items or more likely worth nothing. I regret selling some of them back in the PS3/360 days.
1166052 I thought you were paid to game Deckard? 😛
1166052 Completed Atomfall. Chose the ‘follow the telephone call man’ ending. Enjoyed it. Found it difficult to put down before completing it. There look to be quite a few endings but I’ve rolled credits and happy with the one I got. Defo worth a play. 7/10 on the r-score-o-meter. Next gonna give South of Midnight a go.

Got my blu ray drive add on for my Pro. I shouldn’t be excited to have a disc drive lol especially when they should be included. Nice to have access to disc games again and might upgrade my TLOU2 on PS4 disc to the PS5 version for a tenner.
