114553 Readers love having lots of books to read. That’s why they’re called readers.

Okay, that was a bit obvious, wasn’t it?

Well, my revamped newsletter is now offering even more, and all you have to do is sign up. I know what you’re thinking, “I’m already signed up to hundreds, what makes yours any different?”

A fair question.

Well, first up, when you join my mailing list you will receive a FREE story of your choice.

The first is one of my comedy books, Bittersweet, a Bumpkinton Tale about newcomers to the village who are opening a shop but won’t say what it is. This irritates village busybody, Amelia Goose a lot.

Will it be a burger bar or a brothel?

You’ll have to read more to find out.

Or, if you’re interested in something a bit grittier, then you can choose to receive a copy of Brainstorm, a story about love, loss and psychological turmoil. You’ll follow 24 hours in the life of Michael Eriksson, a clinical psychologist who can barely solve his own problems, let alone help his patients.

On top of this signing up automatically enters you into a draw to win a signed copy of my books The Bumpkinton Tales and the future release, The Fantastical Gregory Shortbread.

Calling All Authors

If you're an indie author, great!

You can get involved by contacting me to spotlight your book in the newsletter. A chance to let readers everywhere know about your fantastic work!

You can find out more on my website:

114553 I always wanted to join a writing group, but was far too nervous to make the leap.

Many seemed rather strict and others unwelcoming unless you write in perfect prose.

All in all it was a little bit disappointing.

However, one day my friend, Anna, told me to start my own with my rules.

It seemed ridiculous, but I did it.

That was September 2015, and its still going strong today!

Read more about it on my website, and if you're local and a writer, why not join us?

114553 I've recently posted a 2-part 'How to' guide on how to get your book into Waterstones on my website.

I hope fellow indies will find it of some use :)

114553 If you're an indie author looking to get your book into Waterstones, it can be draining and seem almost impossible.

Recently they stocked my book in Liverpool One so I have written a 'How To' guide which will be over two parts.

It may work or it may not for others and there may be other ways, but for anybody unsure but feel their book can make it into there, then read on and I hope it will be of some help!

Do note, every Waterstones store is different so I cannot guarantee the same end result.

114553 My book, The Bumpkinton Tales, finally made it onto the shelves in Waterstones, Liverpool, UK.

Right next to an X-Files legend!

114553 Recently I was told I will be made redundant, a kick in the unmentionables for sure, but it gave me a boost too.

How did it give me a boost? Well, it gave me a reason to start looking into a career I may be better at and enjoy more.

So I enrolled on a copywriting course.

My blog delves into my progress so far as well as useful links for anybody who may be interested in giving it a go too.

114553 I have redesigned my website, the purpose? To make it more user friendly, slicker and generally be able to do things I couldn't under the limitations of my previous design.

I have also completed my first author workshop in a local school.

You can find out more about me deciding to take the leap to speak to children about the wonders of being an author here:

114553 My book, The Bumpkinton Tales: Volume One is taking part in #ComedyBookWeek so to celebrate I am running a promotion. Until 23rd July the book will be just £0.99/$0.99 and the paperback will be £6.99.

If you're a fan of cozy humour I hope that you will enjoy it :)

114553 I'm running a vote on my website for your favourite photo of somebody reading my new book, The Bumpkinton Tales: Volume One. You don't need to have read it to vote for your favourite. Voting closes on 10th July 2016, so why not check out the entrants and have a go? :D

114553 I have a blog but it's mostly about my work. I do do interviews with authors though, but not so much reviews of books.

I'm happy to do whatever is needed though :)

My blog is:

114553 It's a lovely morning here, though I hear rain is on the way at 4, just the time I'm leaving work. Bah!

I have some time when I get home but at a loss as to what to do. I could start the 3rd draft of my novel or I could get my brain in gear and start a new short story to release later this year to keep my toe in the author world, but, as usual, I never have an idea what I want to do. I'll ponder then before you know it I've done nothing and it's time for bed!

114553 This evening I am doing my first ever radio interview. I will be on The Frank Carlyle Show on Mersey Radio at 20:15 GMT approx this evening (20th June 2016) talking about my book The Bumpkinton Tales: Volume One.

Don't worry if you're not on Merseyside, the show is available to stream online at: http://www.merseyradio.co.uk/

And there will be a You Tube link coming later in the week.

Nervous as hell!

114553 Last week, my fiancee Elaine and I went in search of wedding venues, so for a change I decided to do a website update about that. A little off topic, sure, but I thought I'd give visitors a chance to learn a bit more about me :)

More here: https://matthewdrzymala.com/2016/06/0...

I also have a giveaway in progess which you can find out more about below:

If you like psychological stories then my short story, Brainstorm is available from Amazon for FREE until Friday 10th June.

Here's the synopsis:

Clinical psychologist Michael Eriksson makes a living from helping others, but after a series of events he is left fighting to pick up the pieces of his own shattered psyche.

When he is called to an attempted suicide on a stormy summer's night, Michael has the chance to save a life, but will it be his own?

If humour is more your thing, I have a new collection out called The Bumpkinton Tales: Volume One, so if you like something a little lighter, this is for you. It's not free at the moment but still at a low price. Hope you enjoy them if you choose to read either :)
