Regan looked up at the sky. It was getting dark and there was a chill in the breeze. She shivered and pulled her cape around her. “I’m gonna head back.” She told the two. She turned to Reaper. “I’ll meet you here in the morning. Trust me, you DO NOT want to face Daegon alone.” Regan waved and walked into the shadows, heading for the building.

“Yeah, you should probably stop before you hurt yourself.” Regan agreed.

“Ahem?” Regan raised her eyebrows at Reaper. She turned to Thing. “Well, hello Thing. Sorry I tried to destroy you a minute ago.”

Regan looked at Reaper like he was crazy. “Thing? What thing?” She asked, clearly not catching on. “All I see is a weird blob that somehow avoided my earth.”

Regan heard a voice behind her and freaked out. She whirled around and thrust her hand, sending a few boulders hurling at it.

“I was going to, but then you were too close!” She laughed. “I didn’t exactly feel like knocking myself out in the process!”

“Well it didn’t turn out that way, didn’t it?” Regan crossed her arms and rolled her eyes. “Just warm me next time or you will get a rock wall in the face.”

“Ugh! No kidding.” Regan looked around the dark forest. It was getting dark and creepy. “I should probably get back. On the other hand, he didn’t even try to stop you from kidnapping me...” She sighed.

“The other- Oh! You must mean Daegon.” Regan sighed. “Don’t worry, you’re not missing out on anything.” She rolled her eyes. “He can be a real stick in the mud sometimes.”

Regan turned around and laughed. “Don’t make me mad and I’ll try not to!” She tried to keep her smile, but it faded.

Regan sighed and stood up. Staying mad wouldn’t help anything. Besides, Vee didn’t want her to look back. If she wanted her to be strong, she would. Regan looked over at the tree she uprooted. Anger just caused more problems. Carefully, Reagan create a pillar that pushed the tree back up into place. She then put her hands out flat and lowered them, backing in the earth around the tree. “I’m sorry my friend.” She whispered to it.

Regan stayed silent. That was the worst day of her life. She lost her best friend. The one who stuck closer than her own family. The only one who actually cared about her. All because of a stupid accident. Regan punched the ground out of anger. A few yards away, a rock pillar shot up and a tree fell down with a groan.

Regan looked down. “I made a promise to my friend. It was right before she died. There was a terrible fire on night and she didn’t make it out.” Regan flashed back to that awful day.

“Regan, Regan look at me.” Veronica gasped.
Regan ran to her side, tears streaming down her face. “Don’t go Vee. Please, don’t go!”
“No, it is my time. Don’t let this hold you down. Don’t let my death ruin you. Keep going. Be strong. And whatever you do, don’t look back. Promise me this. Promise me that you won’t run away from your problems. You need to face them head on. Stop running and start fighting. Promise me that you will open up. Remember the pain my death will cause you and try to help others through theirs. And finally. Be courageous. You are special. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.”
“I will Vee. I will.” Regan promised. Anything to make Veronica happy.
“Thank you.” Veronica said and smiled. She brushed away Regan’s tears and then she was silent. She had died.

Regan came back to the present. She put her head down. She didn’t cry, she was past that. But her heart hurt. It felt empty and cold. She didn’t know why she told him. He wouldn’t care. She knew she shouldn’t have told him so much about her life, but right then, she didn’t care.

“I know that.” Regan replied. “Plenty of people have almost killed me.” She sat down beside him and pulled up her knees. “I know how it feels to lose someone you love.” Her voice wavered. “And I made a promise a long time ago.” She shook her head, trying to get rid of the bad memories.

Regan didn’t understand everything, but she didn’t need to. She walked over to him and knelt down in front of him. “I am with you ‘til the end. If you need to find your brother count me in.” Regan reached out and put her hand in his shoulder. She felt the power flow between them. “We are in this together.”

Regan turned away. He obviously didn’t want her there anymore. She was about to go, but paused. “Was that your brother?” Regan asked cautiously.

Regan stood there silent. She took off her hood and looked Reaper in the face. Her eyes were shining with tears. She saw the pain and the fear in his face. She also saw the distrust. Regan took a step back. “We are more alike than you know.” She said softly.

Regan saw the hurt in his eyes. She knew how he felt. She stepped back and let go of his hand, just as she promised.

Regan stayed behind. Obviously, this was a personal moment. This woman was his mother which means the little boy must be his brother. Sebastian? Oh, that must be Reaper, Regan watched with wonder. Somehow, Reaper trusted her enough to share this moment with her. She didn’t know what to think. Who was he really? What was he really trying to do!
