"agrival, i'm sorry!" inglades said, tears running freely down his face "if i had been stronger, you could stand at my side. together we could have rid the world of the demon's evil!" "i am by your side, brother. i always will be"

"inglades, it's been far too long" the knight said in a friendly voice. "agrival, i thought you were dead!" the statement caused agrival's benign expression to turn to one of sorrow "i am, brother" "but then how are you here?" "the god paladine wishes me to tell you that there is still hope. no matter what path you may walk, there is hope"

inglades collapsed onto the ground, as though a strength had left him. at the same time, he felt more invigorated. he felt a power in the back of his mind. a voice, noble and virtuous, promising him redemption. he felt with his mind into the back of his head, and watched awestruck as a beam of moonlight illuminated an armored figure clad in silver armor, though the whole of the warrior was silver white and transparent. "agrival!"

"fool! soon he will be mine... what is that i sense? i feel great power coming from... that small creature!" the demon laughed madly "ha! perhaps bane overestimated you all, for i could kill you with a word. the knight
will be mine..." he said, turning to a cloud of darkness and scattering into the night air

"why do you continue to follow me?"

"what do you want, sindelian?" inglades asked, not in rage, but sorrow. (so i guess the demon isn't there...)

(so inglades, scorch and sindelian are all by the stream?) "please... i only want to be left in peace..."

(i guess scorch is with sindelian right now) inglades dropped to his knees, with his head bowed, facing the clear depth of the river. he was only barely aware of a tear trickle down his nose and drip onto the water. "what have i said? what have i done?" he asked into the darkness with a growing sense of disgust for his actions. "perhaps she was right..." he said, standing "perhaps i have lowered my standards of behavior... perhaps this mission was assigned to test my character. but such action is required for the greater good! i will do what it takes to protect the others. scorch, eragon, pine, erica..." he shook his head, clearing his thoughts enough for him to hear a snap behind him. "you" he said with absolute loathing, drawing his sword and turning to see the flame demon

inglades snarled as scorch berated him for "dropping to the fiend's level", taking a step back, towards the statue. "don't say that, ever, scorch! waht right do you have to accuse me of dropping to his level? i would never consider genocide, the killing of innocents, the desecration of a sacred temple to the gods of light!" he took another step back, and jumped as sindelian appeared. "i want only justice!" inglades ran into the woods, leaping over a creek, dodging through the trees, and crawling under low, thorny bushes until he felt he was adequately alone. he slowed, and knelt by a stream on a smooth stone, with the reflected light of the moon shining off of the water

"he killed a city full of innocents!!!" inglades screamed, standing up to his full six foot height "and by paladine i would see him no,
it brought to justice." his shoulders sagged, his rage spent "and among those killed was my brother. i will make him pay"

"i will do what i have to, make whatever personal sacrifices i must. i
will kill him." inglades said, with a gleam in his eye that scorch had never seen before in the knight's eye "then such atrocities will not be committed, at least by such a vile being"

"if i had been stronger, perhaps Agrival would still be here! i swear to you, that i will be stronger! for the good of those of my friends who remain alive, i swear that it will not happen again! yes..." he mused "the next time i meet the dark lord, i will be ready. i will kill him!!!"

"my brother" inglades said bitterly

inglades tensed as he heard a twig snap under the foot of the intruder, but sighed with relief when he saw that it was scorch, not a demon. "why are you here, friend?" he said wearily, wiping a tear from his eye.

inglades sat in the grass for some time, thinking of everything that had happened since his brother's death.

"stay here, sindelian. use the crystal and tell me the results mentally. i'll go get inglades"

"desperate times, old friend. he agreed that my divination talents were required for the good of the order, but that is irrelevant right now.
inglades kopa " he said, watching as the crystal revealed inglades kneeling if front of his brother's tomb

"of course i can." dalamar stopped mid motion "that's an excellent question, friend. it shouldn't take us long to find him, however." he said, taking a small, six inch diameter crystal ball from a pouch on his belt, setting it on the table.

inglades slowed his pace to a walk, moving almost silently in the night without his armor, blending with the shadows. he needed time to think, to rest. he had none. ever since he had met the others his life had been utter chaos, but he was glad he had met them all. he came to a clearing, with a polished statue of a noble warrior glittering in the moonlight. inglades recognized the statue, and fell to his knees upon seeing it. he had to be sure however, and walked slowly, reverently, to the base of it. when he saw the words carved into it, he saw his vision blur with tears, and he bowed his head.
written in solamnic, the strong, angular runes read "here rests Agrival, son of Angriff, brother of inglades. return this man to Huma's breast, beyond the wild impartial skies; grant him a warrior's rest, and set the last sparks of his eyes free from the smothering clouds of war; beyond the dreams of ravens, where only the hawk remembers death; then let his shade to Huma rise, beyond the wild impartial skies; est sularus oth mithas"

dalamar only barely resisted the urge to smile smugly by considering the grim reality of his situation. "and what is that, my friend?"
