"not as much as you might think" he said sadly.

"it's one of a knight's jobs." he said simply "we are supposed to be paragons, exemplars. we aren't supposed to show fear or weakness."

"For my entire life, I've lived by a rigid code of honor. Because of it, my brother is dead." he looked sad, unsure. as quickly as the weakness came, it was gone, replaced with a mask of stoicism. "that was my fault though... it won't happen again"

"I don't even expect to survive this quest, Scorch. I don't know what you expect of this, but I'm almost certain that even if we can destroy Du Anglat, we may very well die." he was cold in the night, but he didn't really notice. "Are you sure you want to risk so much?"

Inglades was confused, tired, conflicted. He sat on a rocky outcropping, overlooking a deep drop. "You know how I feel, Scorch."

"But you shouldn't be." Inglades said gently, standing alone in the night. "I'm sorry, Scorch. You shouldn't have to put up with this."

((lol, great observation)) "perhaps i am" he said slowly. "that doesn't mean i don't enjoy your company"

"here. take my cloak" he said, unclasping it and handing it to scorch. he seemed uncomfortable alone with scorch.

he gestured to his wool cloak "no thanks you, scorch. i grew up in these mountains. i'm used to the cold"

they rode for two days through the rugged mountains. the air was cold up at the high altitude, and even colder at nights. it was such a night, the second one up in the mountains. inglades sat at the edge of the camp, looking up into the heavens, and the cold, distant stars.

after a few moments of ingaldes and lord alfred speaking in solamnic, inglades turned to the party. "lord alfred has given us clearance to pass to the north, to castle uth-wistan, lord gunthar's home." inglades seemed in relatively good cheer. "let's ride. lord alfred's squad is on a long patrol, and can't return soon"

"lord alfred!" inglades greeted cheerfully when the column got close. the man in front of the ten man mounted company, who wore a polished steel breastplate and helmet, rode up "inglades! it's been far to long, friend" with a broad grin

a few days later, inglades led the party over the white mountains, heading north, towards Solamnia. in the distance, he saw a glittering column of warriors approach the party. "everyone stay calm, and stay quiet. these are solamnic knights, like me. they should let us pass and take us to lord gunthar."

((uh, sure, though i don't know anything about how you want him established))

inglades rode at the head of the line, his head bowed and cloak hood up, despite the bright sun. he knew he would meet the demon lord again. for his brother, for erica, for scorch, he had to be able to defeat it. he would defeat it.

riding alone, slowly, haltingly, inglades thought to himself how much he wished that he could just stay behind with erica. he hoped he would see her again, sometime, when all of the bloodshed was over...

"i wish you the best of all luck in finding your brother. if this 'du anglat' wasn't rampaging around, i gladly would help you." he said, mounting his horse.

after a long moment, inglades stepped back. "we should go, friends." he said with a resigned sigh

inglades stepped closer until he was about a foot away from erica. hesitantly, he put his arms around erica, in what he believed to be their final meeting. "good bye, erica"
Maralune wrote: ""Okay." She turned to inglades "I guess this is goodbye?"""so you're not coming with us?" inglades said, sounding disappointed. "i suppose i couldn't talk you in to coming?" he said, stepping closer to erica
