1056220 Challenge Complete!
Word used: You
Book: After You Fell by J.S. Lark
A slow burn, but an original plot line, and overall enjoyed it.

1056220 Challenge Complete!
Read: Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs
The library part was only revealed close to the end, but it was a fun trip getting there. As mentioned in my review- https://www.goodreads.com/review/show..., you should read this series fairly close together, and definitely in order. It's a continuation of one story, divided only book to book. Not one you want to jump into in the middle. As fantasy writing goes, this one is unique, partially due to the creative use of old (weird) photographs by way of illustrations. An enjoyable read!

1056220 Will read City of Windows by Robert Pobi
May 01, 2022 10:00PM

1056220 I’ll be reading Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs, the 3rd book in the Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children series.
If someone needs a suggestion, try The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. I have read all in the series, and truly enjoyed the writing, it is positively lyrical. You will fall in love with the character Fermin, he is a hoot! The series is based on the Cemetery of Forgotten Books (fictional, unfortunately).

1056220 Challenge Compete!
Book - Mystic River by Dennis Lehane
Rating 5 stars. A complex look at the relationships between three men who were childhood friends, and how different events affected them and their relationships with each other. That was oversimplified, but my review is here https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

1056220 Will be reading The Last One Home, by Victoria Helen Stone. Recent addition to my Kindle library, looks interesting.

1056220 Read Razorblade Tears by S.A. Cosby. This one is still being talked about, so figured it was a winning choice. It was a good book, much more violent than expected, but still a good read. See my review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

1056220 Changed my mind, the book I had planned was from 2020, now going to read Razorblade Tears, on the Goodreads awards last year.

1056220 Will be reading Thief River Falls, thinking it is based in my home state of Minnesota. Sounds intriguing.

1056220 Read The Scarpetta Factor by Patricia Cornwell. This is #17 of the series, and not sure how much longer I will stick with it. I enjoy the story, but there are some issues I detail here in my review. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

1056220 Challenge complete!
Key Word: Midnight
Book: The Midnight Line by Lee Child
Another wild, twisted ride with Jack Reacher. My review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

By the way - if you haven’t checked out the new Reacher series on Prime, do so. Much more like the books than the previous movies. There’s just too much going on to pack all of one of his stories into a 2 hour movie. A series does it much more justice. And of course, this Jack Reacher really LOOKS and ACTS like Jack Reacher from the books. ;)

1056220 Picking back up on the Kay Scarpetta series (Patricia Cornwell), that fits well with a tough, smart female main character, as well as her niece Lucy, plus the author is a woman. Will be reading The Scarpetta Factor.
Feb 01, 2022 09:49PM

1056220 Going to read The Midnight Line by Lee Child. Had time for a couple of other (non-challenge or book club) books in January, so picked back up in the Jack Reacher series. I’m working on getting up to date on that and the Kay Scarpetta (Patricia Cornwell) series. So following up in February with one of each for both Motif and Keyword.

1056220 Forgot to post my read for the month, challenge completed on November 26:
Word - Since
Book - Since We Fell by Dennis LeHane
Did not review, but it was almost a two part book, where the central character seemed VERY different from the first half to the second half. I enjoy a good twist, but the direction the book took towards the end was a bit of a stretch, considering where it started. Not what I would call a satisfying end.
