Saphira was a blue scaled dragon, the last female dragon known to exist in Alagasia. She was bonded to Eragon Shadeslayer as her Dragon Rider when her egg was rescued by the Varden's agents from the clutches of Galbatorix. Of the three eggs that Galbatorix saved after The Fall of the Dragon Riders, she was the first to hatch.
