message 282: by John (new)

John J Questore Number 20 ! ! ! Why is it the minute you crack open a book, some ignoramus starts talking?!? Yesterday at the gym, I was on the treadmill reading - there were at least 10 other treadmills on the other side. But this "lady" and her friend chose the two RIGHT NEXT TO ME and wouldn't shut up the entire time. Every so often I would shoot them a glance, with not even a glimpse of understanding on their part.

My coworker is the same way - the minute I crack open a book during my lunch, he insists on talking to me. Even made the comment, "You read more than anyones I ever met. Don't it get boring?" (an exact quote). I wanted to respond, "Maybe if you read more, you would have a better command of the English language", but I held my tongue, and turned up the headphone volume.
