Did You Notice Something a Little Different?
UPDATE: Thanks for all the feedback! For those of you who were having issues with blurriness, we have good news: we pushed out an update this afternoon that improves the sharpness of the font for users who were affected. We’re monitoring all the comments and will keep you posted on any further updates.
If you’re a frequent visitor to Goodreads, you've probably noticed a few tweaks we’ve made to the fonts and colors on the desktop site today. Our goal with these small-but-important changes was to consolidate and refresh our visual styles and lay the groundwork for some design improvements that we’re planning in the future.
What’s different?
To enhance the readability of text on Goodreads, we’ve adopted two new open-source fonts. Lato, our sans-serif font, was designed by Warsaw-based designer Łukasz Dziedzic (“Lato” means “Summer” in Polish). Merriweather, our serif font, was created by Eben Sorkin and was designed to be pleasant to read on screens.
To make it easier to scan the page for information you need, we’ve touched up and modernized the design of common page layout elements like section headers, tabs and links.
To simplify and modernize our visual design, we’ve reduced the number of link colors we use, removed gradients from buttons and the site navigation, and applied a more harmonious color palette to interactive elements such as buttons, stars, and links.

HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE
flag
It looks terrible. About 10% of all the letters are just missing on my screen, like they all have holes in them. Enlarging or shrinking the font doesn't fix it.
Yes, and I hate it. This is horrible. Please return to the previous version. GR has now become very difficult to read.
I personally find this harder to read than the original site. Not a fan :(

I don't want to be a hater, but I really find the new fonts significantly more difficult to read. Can I change it somehow?
Can you guys make it better to separate our comment updates while reading a book? Sometimes it seems they are all meshed up, specially when we write a lot and separate the comments with paragraphs.
Also, allow us more characters, 400 is really low =(

I noticed this immediately! The new fonts look great and it's much more pleasant to read on the computer. Thank you!
The new font in the review spaces and feeds is terrible. It's too small and angular, harder to read. The font in the comments is nice.
I don't mind the new layout, but I hate the font. The fonts are hard to read and I don't like the shade of blue that was chosen.
Quite nice coloring. Not sure if it is easier to read but I think it is more aesthetically pleasing.
No! No! No! No!This is terrible. Please, please, please give us the option to switch back. I can't see this horrible font and all these colors.
Nope. No change please. This is super hard to read and hurts my eyes! Plus it's just plain annoying. Fix the things that need to be fixed. Not the things that don't. The change is easier on the eyes when you use the mobile website. However, for the regular version on a computer it is harder to see.
Joe wrote: "It looks terrible. About 10% of all the letters are just missing on my screen."Haha I was SO waiting for Goodreads to finally make the site better, not like it's from the 90s, and all they did is even smaller fonts that I have to zoom in to 150%.
I clicked the "notice some changes" link because…I did NOT notice any changes! It's fine. The old font was fine as well. I am all about the content.

Sure, on the way now.

Oh my gosh I thought I was having eye sight issues at first. Cause I was like I didn't change my font in my last posts when I was writing. I guess I'll get used to it. But now have find some way to get my pics sized right. My profile image is headless now lol.
I reloaded the page, and I was like, "Um, Goodreads? What are you doing?" I'm not quite sure if I like this or not, I'll get back to you on that later.
Its difficult to adapt; I also hate the font - unpleasant and too small and not aestethic at all. I do not think that this font is ok for GR users.
I don't like the book titles, its series, the authors and my friends names in Bold Black. Its looking all blurred. But I liked the font, the changes in the Want to Read/Reading buttons, better progress bars.
Just put some color instead of bolded black. Instead of a fixed color, can't we customize the layout/fonts/colors ourselves?
I don't like it. Please put it back. I have to learn how to use my glasses all over again. It is too small, too skinny I think is a better way to put it, and I don't like reading the blue.
It's blurry! Everything is blurry. I hate the blue, green color, and everything is messed up. It's so hard to read. This is really unfair to the people who use GR. I can't be an active user if it stays like this.
I don't like it that now when you are currently reading a book and you update on what page you are on, now you have to guess the percentage instead of just putting the page number in. It is REALLY annoying.
The front is cute. But I think, it's like reading an old version kindle with 221 ppi instead of 300.I probably will blame my old eyes.
