Smilla's feeling for snow by Peter Hoeg is a brilliant winter read.
I would add The Thirteenth Tale and Once Upon A River by Diane Setterfield. Specific to Christmas, I always enjoy Immoveable Feast by John Baxter and a more recent discovery was Nigel Slater's The Christmas Chronicles.
