The Most Read Books of the Reading Challenge (By Genre)
Every January, millions of readers join the Goodreads Reading Challenge. Last year alone, more than 4.3 million Goodreads members pledged to read more than 276 million books.
As we begin the 2020 Reading Challenge, we thought we'd quickly look back at the most-read books of last year's Challenge. Of millions of readers who participated in 2019, these were their top eight books across several genres. Of course this list is full of Goodreads members favorite books, from Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine to Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup, and everything in between!
We hope this selection helps kickstart your new year of reading! And don't forget to add the books that pique your interest to your Want to Read shelf.

My first book of 2020 was Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi. Now I'm reading Brain on Fire by Susannah Cahalan.

I list my books but if I spend too much time on my Goodreads page when will I have time to read. Lol

I'm reading something that I'm sure no one else is reading these days, The Revenge of Seven by Pittacus Lore, from the I Am Number Four series.

I have just finished The Christmas Hirelings - Mary Elizabeth Braddon. So will soon be starting my first book of 2020 :-)

The American Story: Conversations with Master HistoriansDavid M. Rubenstein
I received this book as a Christmas present. It consists of interviews with authors who have written about key figures in American history. It is a wonderful, insightful, captivating look at leaders who have shaped our country. Absolutely love it!
I started 2020 with Reese's Book Club selection, Such a Fun Age. It was a great read, and quick. I'm already done. Waiting for Jenna's to be announced.

Life and Death of Nicholas II and (carry over from last year) Encyclopedia of Walt Disney Animated Cartoons.

Aside from the non fiction books, I can honestly say I've read most of the books on this list. Also, I'm starting this year with "A Scanner Darkly" by Phillip K Dick.

      1. The Library Book (non-fiction) by Susan Orlean (I'm half done)2. Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker (fiction) by Jennifer Chiaverini
3. Lost in Shangri-La (non-fiction) by Mitchell Zuckoff
4. The Fountains of Silence (fiction) by Ruta Sepetys
Just finished Joseph Knox’s Sirens. Good contemporary British noir. Going to Wicked Saints next, I think.

Love this list~ thanks forsharing. Currently reading The Giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes for my Jan Bookclub meeting.
Adding my agreement with previous comments: where is the love for other genres? This is a great post, as I'm always curious what my fellow book nerds are reading, but considering you have Choice Awards that span multiple genres, why dismiss them here? I would love to know what romance or YA or graphic novels I should consider trying if I want to expand outside my reading comfort zone!

Having just seen the brilliant 'Little Women', I'm reading 'March' by Geraldine Brooks. Very powerful but quite a tough read.
