message 101: by Elaine (new)

Elaine I will be rereading some of my favorite classics including Pride & Prejudice, Sense & Sensibility, Vanity Fair, Middlemarch, Anna Karenina, The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring. My new to me read will be the Lark Rise to Candleford trilogy.

message 102: by Liz (last edited May 17, 2018 08:08AM) (new)

Liz I am planning on catching up on my to-read shelf at home, it just keeps growing anytime I go to a bookstore, to of the list is Women of the Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong and maybe some Terry Goodkind Sword of Truth books, along with a very random assortment of other books off my shelves. If I can get in about four books a week for the months of July and August I would be very happy, as I would almost finish my reading goal for the year.

message 103: by Books by Kimi (new)

Books by Kimi I want to read some bigger books that require more attention since I won't be distracted by school or work - I'm thinking FALL OF GIANTS, BELGRAVIA and maybe ANNA KARENINA

I read IT by Stephen King and Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell in the past year. I had to take extended breaks from reading after finishing those books lol

message 106: by Jeffrey (new)

Jeffrey The only thing coming out in the summer months I'll be picking up will be the paperback edition of "A Column of Fire" and "The Fall of Gondolin."

message 107: by [deleted user] (new)

I’ve been reading Proust’s IN SEARCH OF LOST TIME—one volume per summer (or longer as this is not speed reading material). This summer I will tackle Vol 5 in the MODERN CLASSICS version. My schedule this summer is somewhat more busy than usual so this will probably go into Fall or early Winter.

message 108: by Redbearreads (last edited May 17, 2018 09:28AM) (new)

Redbearreads I calculated in order to read all of books listed on "The Great American Read on PPS" in a good about of time for myself (two a month) it would take me a little over four years.

Guess I wont be doing that.

Oh man, I literally just added this to my to-read list. Is it any good so far? I'm really looking forward to reading it!

Christian Ekman Krishnakanth wrote: "I'm taking on the Dark Tower series by Stephen King... I'd supplement it with the Stephen King's Extended Universe which has links with the Dark Tower series... like [book:'Salem's Lo..."

You have such a fun journey ahead of you! Wish I could read the dark tower series, and indeed many of Stephen King's books, for the first time again.

Just FYI though, you absolutely do not need to read the other books with ties to the dark tower series. It's a nice bonus for sure, but by no means necessary to enjoy it. So you can just make the decision based on how much reading you have the patience and want for. There is so much one would like to read, after all. Not just Stephen King, but lots of other authors as well.
