Well said! I just finished my degree so I was supposed to read a lot of books I haven't had the time or energy for, but now I have several trips coming up. Oops.

Ruby Heilman My favorite book is Out Of My Mind. Just a suggestion! Thank you!

Hyperion was a great book, with inventive ideas on news ways to travel, a fascinating sociological layout and a tense and fascinating conclusion!

message 55: by BookzBookzBookz (new)

BookzBookzBookz I'm not really sure what my summer read project will be yet. Maybe The Art of War... I'm also writing, so it'll be slightly difficult.

message 62: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Cavar Sudi wrote: "my summer reads are Crime and Punishment and The Count of Monte Cristo."

I'm hoping to listen to the audio of The Count of Monte Cristo this summer! Unfortunately, I've already seen the movie, which breaks my rule of always reading the book first....so I need to remedy that by actually reading/listening to the original text!

message 63: by Zak (new)

Zak Longo Nichole wrote: "My big summer reading project will be War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy."

Good luck on reading the Brick! It took me 3 whole weeks, but I guess if you've read War and Peace, I suppose you won't have much of a problem. Perhaps I should read War and Peace. I did develop a sudden interest in Russia, after all.

message 66: by Amalia (new)

Amalia Madalina Since I associate summer with down time to relax too, I plan on reading "The Magic Mountain" by Thomas Mann. I hope it won't take me more than a month or two, since I have other interesting books I wanna read too :)

I'm not planning/expecting to complete The Wheel of Time any time sooner, not least in this year...
But, I hope and wish I would be done with the Dark Tower in a couple of months including supplementary material

Good luck with Bill Hodges... It's in my Bucket list... maybe this winter or later

Morten Andersen Got a few classics on my bookshelves that i would like to read, as they have been there for some time:

Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Moby-Dick by Herman Melville
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas

Not sure if i can manage all 3, but they would be a good adition to the goodreads challenge that i already finished some time ago.

message 71: by Paxton (new)

...after and before those, it just depends on my mood.

message 83: by Debra Jo (new)

Debra Jo Reads are there examples of books for the different categories?

message 84: by Marguerite (new)

Marguerite I recently finished justified temptation by Erin Lockwood. If you are looking for a pool or beach book that you can’t put down this is for you. The authors story telling ability makes you feel like you are on the island with the characters and you will fall in love/lust too. I was lucky enough to read an advanced readers copy but put this one in your queue you will not be disappointed.

message 93: by O'Colemain (last edited May 16, 2018 10:50PM) (new)

O'Colemain I started Three Musketeers last summer started school before I was halfway through. My biggest read will be finishing that... plus the other 20 on my TBR list... plus the other hundred or so... you know what, I think I have reached the point all bibliophiles come to where we realize we will never read all the books we want to, there just isn’t enough time in one life time!

message 98: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm new to this challenge. How does it work? I noticed on the list that some categories repeat and some are new for each month. Can someone explain to me if each category must be met at both the Beginner/Expert level?

Suvi Marianne wrote: "I'm new to this challenge. How does it work? I noticed on the list that some categories repeat and some are new for each month. Can someone explain to me if each category must be met at both the Be..."

You choose the level you want (or you can do both if you really want to challenge yourself!) and you try to meet as many categories as you can. For example, if you read a poetry book, you tick that box. There seem to be no rules about ticking multiple boxes within one level or both levels with one book, so I think you can decide what to do with that.
