Hyperion was a great book, with inventive ideas on news ways to travel, a fascinating sociological layout and a tense and fascinating conclusion!
I'm not really sure what my summer read project will be yet. Maybe The Art of War... I'm also writing, so it'll be slightly difficult.
Jennifer wrote: "I am going to read Outlander on my kindle while I am on holiday in June."Outlander is one of my favorites. I'm working on the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.
I'm planning to read IT by Stephen King this summer. I'm going to be lying on a beach while reading about scary clowns lol
My summer reads will be whatever tickles my fancy :D. I am dreading Summer aka HEAT aka Hurricane Season!
I'm going to be working on Stephen King's Under the Dome and 11/22/63. I may try to read Catch-22 while I'm at it. I'm hoping to finish all of them.
Sudi wrote: "my summer reads are Crime and Punishment and The Count of Monte Cristo."I'm hoping to listen to the audio of The Count of Monte Cristo this summer! Unfortunately, I've already seen the movie, which breaks my rule of always reading the book first....so I need to remedy that by actually reading/listening to the original text!
Nichole wrote: "My big summer reading project will be War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy."That's some serious dedication. I commend you.
Heather wrote: "I am currently reading "The Terror" by Dan Simmons. It is 937 pages but very readable and exciting. It also, seems to fit a lot of the summer reading challenge categories."This book is INCREDIBLE!!! I loved it and I hope you do too!

Good luck on reading the Brick! It took me 3 whole weeks, but I guess if you've read War and Peace, I suppose you won't have much of a problem. Perhaps I should read War and Peace. I did develop a sudden interest in Russia, after all.
Since I associate summer with down time to relax too, I plan on reading "The Magic Mountain" by Thomas Mann. I hope it won't take me more than a month or two, since I have other interesting books I wanna read too :)
Asha wrote: "A huge undertaking that is for these are some of his most exhaustive works, isn't it?I am reading his Bill Hodges Trilogy."
I'm not planning/expecting to complete The Wheel of Time any time sooner, not least in this year...
But, I hope and wish I would be done with the Dark Tower in a couple of months including supplementary material
Good luck with Bill Hodges... It's in my Bucket list... maybe this winter or later
I am going to read Perry Anderson's Books. Passages from Antiquity to Feudalism & Lineages of the Absolutist State, it is very very important, I hope to succeed, If I have more free time at work :).
Got a few classics on my bookshelves that i would like to read, as they have been there for some time:Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Moby-Dick by Herman Melville
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
Not sure if i can manage all 3, but they would be a good adition to the goodreads challenge that i already finished some time ago.
I have all my current to-read books in order, so I think I'm going to continue tackling them, but I'm also thinking of reading a large book, at the same time, over the course of the summer. Any suggestions?

I'm excited to jump right in because of the amount of pr..."I am enjoying it so far! I'm only on the second chapter but his story is enganging and it is certainly hard to put down.
I'm finally reading Game of Thrones! I have been intimidated for a while, since big, complex-world stories are a challenge for me. I started it yesterday, and I'm loving it!
I'm going to read The Brothers Karamazov, Barbarossa: The Story of a Legend, The Nightwalker. However I also can read some other thin books such as Albert Camus' or Bulgakov's.
My summer reading project will be to finally get to the books that have been sitting unread on my shelf for years. lol
I'm gonna try and read all the books in the pile on my floor and if I haven't finished them all I'll try and finish them this year.

I'll be reading close to home by cara hunter!!! I really have been wanting to read it since so long....
My big summer read will be Gone with the WindAND the Harry Potter series because I'm 23 and have never read them.
...after and before those, it just depends on my mood.
I recently finished justified temptation by Erin Lockwood. If you are looking for a pool or beach book that you can’t put down this is for you. The authors story telling ability makes you feel like you are on the island with the characters and you will fall in love/lust too. I was lucky enough to read an advanced readers copy but put this one in your queue you will not be disappointed.
Mariam wrote: "I always read one of the Lord of the Rings books over the summer since it takes me so long! :D"lolz right?
I'm planning on (finally) reading the Hobbit and the LOTR trilogy! I keep telling myself I'll read it and I think now is finally the time.
Record of a Spaceborn Few by Becky Chambers! I've been waiting for that one since like... last summer, I think. I love the two previous books of the series so much, I can't wait for this third installment!
Jennifer wrote: "I am going to read Outlander on my kindle while I am on holiday in June."Woot-Woot, Jennifer! Welcome, sassenach, and enjoy!!

Jennifer wrote: "I am going to read Outlander on my kindle while I am on holiday in June."First time or a re-read? If it's your first time through I'm jealous - ENJOY!
I started Three Musketeers last summer started school before I was halfway through. My biggest read will be finishing that... plus the other 20 on my TBR list... plus the other hundred or so... you know what, I think I have reached the point all bibliophiles come to where we realize we will never read all the books we want to, there just isn’t enough time in one life time!
Lily wrote: "I'm finally reading Game of Thrones! I have been intimidated for a while, since big, complex-world stories are a challenge for me. I started it yesterday, and I'm loving it!"You’re in for quite the treat!
Already finished The Grapes of Wrath and To Kill A Mockingbird. Have quite a few to read: Woolf (To a Lighthouse), Walser (Berlin Stories), Maxwell (So Long See You Tomorrow), Plath (The Bell Jar), Bulgakov (The Master and Margarita). But the big summer reading projects are Tolstoy (War and Peace) and Cervantes (Don Quixote).
I'm new to this challenge. How does it work? I noticed on the list that some categories repeat and some are new for each month. Can someone explain to me if each category must be met at both the Beginner/Expert level?

For example, if you read a poetry book, you tick that box. There seem to be no rules about ticking multiple boxes within one level or both levels with one book, so I think you can decide what to do with that.
Nichole wrote: "My big summer reading project will be War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy."Same! I'm doing a buddy-read in June :)

Well said! I just finished my degree so I was supposed to read a lot of books I haven't had the time or energy for, but now I have several trips coming up. Oops.
