A lot of great titles and a lot of new books to add to my personal "to read" list!
flag
It looks like this summer will be a good reading season at Goodreads HQ. This reminds me that I need to finish Ada Palmer's Terra Ignota trilogy. I also need to get further on in The Expanse series & that I really need to do more than look at Butler, Le Guin & Okorafor on my TBR list and do some actual reading of them this summer.

My summer reading is the same as my rest-of-the-year reading list. More than 50 books that have been sitting on my shelves for a while. These range from children's historical fiction to medical non-fiction. I recently went to a library book sale and got a couple more. Whatever I don't want to keep I'll take to my local second-hand book store. So far I'm getting rid of many more books than I'm keeping.
Really good stuff in here. Like Elizabeth said, it's great that not only new books with lots of buzz are featured.
Great to see the diverse range your staff are reading. Added a few to my TBR and many I'm looking forward to :)
@Marie Pabelonio, YES! If you have a Goodreads account with more books you're reading, feel free to friend me/send me all the recommendations, because your list includes my 2 most-anticipated books of the year and one that I read last year! :)
I'm so glad you made this list! I always love to see what people read during the summer and it's a way of spreading amazing books! I may have added to many books to my tbr, but i saw some that I already have read. It's so exciting to share thoughts and opinions when it comes to books!
Maybe someone can help me. I was reading a book about a girl that was badly scared on one side of her face. She moved out to a small cabin owned by her dad, if I remember right. Had a garden, chickens, loved to go out and walk in the woods. Went to town very seldom just to buy staples. She ran across a man injured in the forest after a rain storm and took him home to rescue him. that is as far as I have gotten and lost the book on my Kindle. I can't find it. Can't remember the author or the name of the book has anyone read this one. Any help would be appreciated.
Anything by Jodi Picoult. Check out 'Finding Luke' a story of a school shooting from the father of one of the suspects. So timely and so well written. Thanks for these suggestions from the staff, but oh my, my list just keeps on getting longer!
The covers of many of these books are intriguing. But, I would really like a brief synopsis -- a paragraph will do -- of what the book is about. Maybe something similar to the synopsis found for each Amazon book.

Or you can fully click on the cover and it takes you to the book's page.
Oh, thank you, Victoria! I did not know about that. Very helpful! I will go back through the books again.
Several of these were already on my to-read shelf, but I added several as well: Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows, The Bright Hour, Purple Hibiscus, Homo Deus, ayiti, The Birthday of the World, A Thousand Beginnings and Endings, The Color of Bee Larkham's Murder, Astrophysics for People in a Hurry, The Doomsday Machine, Feminism: South Africans Speak Their Truth, A Higher Loyalty, and Columbine. Great recommendations - thank you!
Good idea! I had not considered that, but I am a voracious reader! I read ebooks on my smartphone (BlackBerry Z10) and on my tablet or laptop. I am never without something to read, wherever I am. Sometimes I have several books going at once, depending on my mood. I love the feel and smell of hardback and paperback books. But the convenience and light weight of ebooks can't be beaten.
Gina wrote: "You should link their page, it would be interesting to follow :) THE POWER is amazing!"Link whose page? And how? And The Power is one that I REALLY want to read. (It's already on my to read list - at the top!). I have heard great things about it!
Colleen wrote: "Lots of good ones - some I've read, some I've added to the TBR & some I already had on the TBR!"Same here! I was happy to see Radium Girls pop up on several lists because it is an excellent book!

Elizabeth wrote: "I love that these are authentic lists, not just promotions of new releases. You guys are the best!!"YESSSSSS
Got new books to immerse myself into. The recommendations suggest that the Goodreads HQ is gonna be the party place for all book lovers .
Regarding a “men’s” reading list, just put ond together yourself and then look up “books similar to”.I looked at the Men’s 100 list and would agree with many but certainly not all: but I do like reading what others find interesting to find new things and ideas.

Are you sure this is the article you want to post this comment to? There was another article where there was a discussion of a men's list.
this is a great list - thought provoking interesting choices! not the usual "latest" and what's "hot" or being promoted.
No wonder you almost never recommend traditional mysteries. Not a single employee above has even one on their list.
Rosemary wrote: "Maybe someone can help me. I was reading a book about a girl that was badly scared on one side of her face. She moved out to a small cabin owned by her dad, if I remember right. Had a garden, chick..."Message 18 here (above) from Rosemary asks a book to be identified by story description. It is probably Autobiography of a Face by Lucy Grealy.
