Goodreads tech query

Does anyone know how to add an audio file to one's Goodread's page? I see a set of instructions for video, but not audio.

I have a half-hour audio interview of my grandfather by my father, made in 1959, talking about my grandfather's turn-of-the-century childhood in Pennsylvania, that I think would be interesting to post, somehow.

It's rather maddening. I was interested in hearing about all those relatives I'd never met, starting with my grandmother, but they only got up to about 1910. My grandfather mostly goes on about various impressive industrial fires in Washington, Pennsylvania that he'd witnessed in his youth. (My penchant for setting things ablaze at the climaxes of my tales may be come by honestly.) He never gets back to the family questions, and they never made any follow-ups.

rivka I believe you have two options:
1) Upload it to YouTube or another video site (with some filler video, like a title screen) that we support links to;
2) Upload it to your site or any other site that supports audio files and link it here (URL in the bio section of your profile, link to it in a blog post).

Sounds fascinating, so I hope you do post it!

I may experiment by simply trying to make it a video file, and see what happens. I don't think I can break Goodreads...

Otherwise I might drop it on Mike Bernardi, see if he can place it on the Dendarii.com site, and link to there, aka "con an expert into doing it for you".

Brian Casey Soundcloud is an audio-only equivalent to YouTube, so you can upload it there and post a link to the uploaded audio.

There's also a site called TunesToTube (www.tunestotube.com) that automates the posting of an MP3 to YouTube, by encoding a static image and the MP3 into a video file. I have no experience with it, but it seems to get decent reviews.

Huh.

I was hoping there was a way to do it without leaving my Goodreads site, the way I upload my photos and cover scans.

Terese Lois,
I'd bring the audio into PowerPoint and have it play across all slides. You could then add photos to the slides for your grandfather and perhaps some from where he lived. You can then save the file as an MP4 file and upload to YouTube, then link to it, as suggested by commentor #1.

You lost me in the first sentence, alas.

I think I'll wait till my son aka tech support next stops out, and see what he can do.

C. Sounds fascinating to your fans from Washington, though; I'm really curious about it! :)

Jack Furlong soundcloud.com is to audio, what YouTube is to Video. Easy to use, post and embed
