Forked existence

The human race has marveled about the purpose of life since days beyond recall. It is hard to say if we devised goals to satiate this inquiry or if running after goals posed this question. Life is now a hamster wheel; we can never know what came first.

One thing is for sure, we are off the rails when measured against the other species around us. We take solace in the fact that we are intelligent. Is our cleverness only good for wondering about intangibles, worrying about the unknown future, and feeling threatened by fellow humans' skills and wealth? We rage wars to prove our point and take pride in advancements but have reached nowhere.

Our intelligence so far has only shown us how futile our quest is. How unattainable a moving goal is, and how progress is taking us further away from the life at hand. Yet we crave to know who created the world and why. Is there a purpose to it? How can we ask such a practical question when we create things that serve no purpose and only make us feel good.
I dare you to look around you right now. Do you see anything that is absolutely necessary for your survival? I bet most of the things you have spent your money on were comforting to your ego or your lifestyle. That should be the coup de grace to stop hoarding. I don't suppose that is possible since we live in an ambitious, cutthroat society. Unless every person checks out of the forked existence.

Hang on! Do we have to reverse our progression as a species to get in tune with the rest? Well, let’s see. We know by looking at the others that it will not end the suffering or guarantee a life without struggles. And so, delight in riding your hamster wheel!
