Plot Trysts podcast: My Word As Vorkosigan

Running in 2024: a podcast discussion series devoted to an in-depth look at the books of the Vorkosigan Saga. Each episode, the co-hosts invite a different guest author to discuss a particular book.

I was startled, looking at the remarkable guest lineup, how many other writers I know or have read name my work as a reading pleasure or an influence. Having spent the first third of my career in the feedback vacuum of the pre-internet world, I somehow still feel that lingering sense of invisibility. (I was "new writer Bujold" for so long.) Early conditioning, I guess.

The co-hosts have also set up a Discord group for post-podcast discussions. On topic! The link may be found on the podcast page.

We just this past week recorded an interview with me to cap the series, come September.

Ta, L.

A commenter below suggested this might be a good place to re-link my own reading-order guide:

Although beginning with whatever Bujold you have in your hand is never a wrong choice.

Pers Ooh! I re-read the Vorkosiverse books again fairly recently so I shall look forward to delving into this!

Kosigan Does anyone know how to download these podcasts for offline listening?

message 3: by Jerri (new)

Jerri The process to download a podcast depends on what app you are using to listen to the podcast. I have not found a way to download just using a web browser, I have only been able to download using a podcast app. The one I am currently using is called AntennaPod.

They are in the podcast feed of "Plot Trysts". I found them on Overcast, though I'm will come up on in other podcast apps. Overcast will let you download for offline use.

Jerri I have downloaded the episodes available so far and am enjoying listening. I will have to see what form of communications are available I have a few comments I want to make. Thank you for pointing this out, and really looking forward to the interview when the time comes.

Well, the individual episode pages do have a "leave a comment" button, but I can't see any comments so far. The more interactive stuff may be taking place on the linked Discord server; how to access that I must leave to the more e-cognizant among us to explain.

Suelibevg This might be a good time/place to link the reading order again? I listened to the first episode and they seemed to think one had to read the books in order. That’s part of the reason I like the series so much, there’s enough backstory in each story that one doesn’t have to read the previous titles to enjoy the story without saying huh? I can’t wait to hear what Jim Butcher says! I know he’s always been a fan.

Order added above, as one can't put links in comments.

Chuck Gatlin Instead of listening to the podcasts, it’s more convenient for me to read the transcripts—so for folks like me that prefer reading to listening, there’s that option.

I’ve really enjoyed these, too! The participants clearly know the material very well.
