new Bujold podcast interview up at Smart Bitches

I recorded a podcast interview a few weeks back for the Smart Bitches Who Love Trashy Books website, a long-running romance (and other books) review and discussion site -- they've been reviewing my work for many years. We discuss The Assassins of Thasalon -- well, we try to, but I kept wandering off -- and many related subjects.

(That's "semi-retirement" for anyone alarmed by the title.)

Agnès Denie It was a joy to hear you speak (and I was delighted to find that they asked my Georgette Heyer question)

Brzk Lovely interview! :) Love your voice, Lois, such a calm, modulated tone and measured pace of conversation. From your side alone. Thank you :)
P.S. Also a very very nice new picture on your goodreads profile! WoW!

Ah, glad you liked the pic. My daughter and I spent an hour on her recent visit with my cell phone trying various poses, backgrounds, expressions (eyes open, mouth closed, in focus, etc.), and garments. Trying to get one where all the elements lined up was tricky, but happily in these digital days one can snap as many as one likes at no added cost, except possibly aggravation on the part of one's conscripted photographer.

Brzk I was so flattered that you responded that I had to give it a few days until the excitement settled. So, Team Bujold at work :)! I recall the story of the necklace, and clearly these are some of the covers of your books (I notice you have put up the more stylish variants). I am just glad to see you in perfect health and (smugly?) smiling :). Don't know if this expansive grey wall was created with photosessions in mind or if it was merely a chance that it was there when needed. At any rate, the end result, as always, is perfect.
Edit, 3 mins later, before my mind's inner eye: Lois striking a pose with a wide grin, showing a V sign (anime style) and giving us all a wink o.0

The poster in the background is of all of Ron Miller's Vorkosigan e-covers, which he made up for me when we completed that (17 book!) order a few years back. I believe it is still available for interested folks to buy -- I'll have to ask him for a current link.

It decorates a handy bare patch of my living room wall.

Kosigan 11 novellas and 1 novel in 6 years... I suspect your "semi-retirement" is more productive than a lot of writers who consider it their full-time job. This is not a complaint. :)
