Thinking smarter, more in touch with the natural world, living longer
We never hear about those new genes, that transferred to our genetic trees

The happy virus, able to talk to our bodies, and of course our bodies
Insist on conversations, talking back and forth, trading genes to and fro
Only the latest genetic changes, to come along the natural bionic highway

All the viruses get the word out, some distributing helpful genetic rumors
Many viruses flying around, connecting all creatures great and small
Body ready, genetic messages, cryptic, often ignored, not always accepted
Mostly keyed to fit our bodies, and if it fits, it slits right in, slides deep inside
Maybe you get something, maybe you don't, when it’s good we never know

Bad viruses are found just about anywhere, look for smoke and ruins
Easy to see bad viruses, bodies out of joints, feeling faint, sometimes even dead
No rocket scientists needed, the bad viruses leave a trail anyone can follow

The good virus, the one that makes us better, that gives us better builtin tools
Left feeling better, we never even know, never even aware, anything happened
For when there is no smoke, no signs of destruction, no easy clues to follow
Things gone right, anything good from a virus, is never seen, never trumpeted
People always claim it was us, we made ourselves better, all self-improved

And now the new ones summoned by doctors, they heal for a price, agents of long life
Redesigned for a fee, it's no longer free, should be a test, before we all take it
For just in case it doesn’t agree, with some of us, one size never ever fits all
