Mira errata update survey

We're trying to find out if the (lightly) corrected version of "Mira's Last Dance" went through on our vendors, and/or if there are ways people who bought the slightly less copy-edited version can upgrade. My own Paperwhite shows no progress. Anyone else have anything to report?

Ta, L.

3/18: I'm told the B&N Nook version is now supposed to be updated; progress, maybe...

3/18 later still: the update is now supposed to be live on all platforms. Let me know if this seems to be so from your ends.

Onwards, L.

Ed Bear My Kindle for PC isn't getting updates for both Mission and Mira.

DebL No corrected update on iBooks. Searches for "Adira", "it it's", "Skyrose" are still showing up in the text.

message 3: by Scott (new)

Scott I just forced a download from Amazon's "Manage My Content and Devices". That page usually shows 'update available' if there is one - it didn't. After I forced a download, I'm still finding the errors DebL referenced.

Jerri Well, at Amazon I still don't have an update available button in manage my content and devices. However, when I click on "Look Inside" back at the main page for Mira's Last Dance, the little sample provided DOES have the cover art credit: Cover by Ron Miller, which wasn't there before. So, perhaps they are making progress. I will check for the update again on Friday.

That's interesting. Maybe new purchasers are getting the update (good) but the redo isn't ready yet? Well, time will tell, maybe. As long as it also tells me...

Elizabeth McCoy iBooks had an "Update" for me as well.

I believe Amazon no longer ships updates by default, after people had issues? And/or you have to set a default or force an update or something? And sometimes even then it will download the old version... I gather Kindle is something of an esoteric art.

message 7: by Jerri (new)

Jerri I still didn't have the update, so I contacted Amazon using the "chat" feature and the customer service person sent me the updated version at once (as checked by have the cover art credit which is very easy to check). In my feedback to Amazon I expressed my concern that other customers should get an automatic solution to this problem without having to contact Amazon directly, but I don't know if they will follow through. But, to anyone who is reading this and really want the update, try contacting Amazon by chat or phone and I think they will fix it for you.

message 8: by Jerri (new)

Jerri And, Lois, if you would like, I would be willing to forward to an email the text of my "chat" so you can see exactly how it worked, but I don't want to send my personal info on the blog for all the Good Reads to see.

message 9: by DebL (new)

DebL You need to check for the other corrections. My recently updated version on iBooks has the cover art credit, but not the other corrections.

message 10: by Jerri (new)

Jerri You are right, most corrections still missing on Kindle. For example "it's been building up in me up all day" still has both "up's" in the supposedly corrected edition. Bah to Amazon!! And now I can't get it to load in my PC based app at all.

I'm beginning to think I should have left well enough alone... :-(

Another learning experience, L.

DebL Looks like it just came down from iBooks. At least a couple of the typo corrections are made. I can't find Skirose, though.

ETA: Searching for "rose" brings up Skirose, even though a search for "Skirose" doesn't. Weird.

Sea Bunny Voyager Okay, I purchased it for a friend's Voyage (her device had never seen it before, she was wanting to read it though, so it was a double-benefit). Some things are corrected, like the cover art credit. But the "it's been" isn't changed. "Skirose" is not there either. The "up" issue is still there as well.

I took mine completely off my iPhone Kindle app and that did seem to update it when I re-downloaded. But the above errors were still in place.

I'm actually finding Amazon's update timetable to be really interesting. It seems like some things are updated right away, while other things take longer. I'm not sure why this is.

My e-person is still working on it. There has apparently been more than one attempt at an update, with different iterations of corrections. It may take a couple more days to get it all settled. Meanwhile, reports from the wild continue to be useful, so do keep 'em coming.

Ta, L. Hoping this will all be useful someday.

Margaret Delighted to get the story, slight imperfections and all.

message 16: by Stephen (new)

Stephen I just downloaded it to the Kindle app on an android phone I hadn't downloaded it to before, and got the same version as previously (no cover credit, skyrose, etc). I'm not sure if Amazon makes sure I get the same version all the time or not, though. I couldn't find any way to ask for an update on the phone app.

In a few days I'll be able to try again from my desktop. I think it has more options.

Interesting. I just bought it for my Kindle, and the three easily searched corrections were there. Skirose spelt correctly in 2 places, cover credit to Ron on the copyright page, no Adira found, so I think the update has at least partially landed at Amazon. Maybe not pushed out to all of their servers yet?

Lois, thanks for another utterly delightful Penric and Des novella! I just finished reading book 3 again, and was just checking in to see if you had posted any word of future plans. A lovely surprise, and did wonders to cheer me up after a rough day.

(And checking further, no 'up in me up' either. Looks good to me although I haven't checked the entire typo thread)
