Almost home

We have been having a mostly great time. We made it to the coast, played in the sand and climbed on dunes, drank chai and ate s'mores and shopped for cool stuff in weird little shops, and laughed a whole lot (tonight my husband called me a sweet little lady and and I gawked at him and he amended to: "Well maybe you found her and ate her." I laughed my ass off).

Despite dog puke, somewhat overtired kids, not enough showers (we're camping, of course there aren't) and a bad bed (again, the camping), we have had tons of fun and I got to see one of my best friends which makes the whole thing about perfect. We're now on our way home and should be there tomorrow. Where it's hotter than the coast and a bit of a jolt. Ah well. At least it's not snowing.

I did have a dream involving a vampire and spiders (really huge ones, like the size of tricycles) and that was disturbing. And unpleasant. Oh! bought fresh blackberries and apricots and cherries right off the trees (and bush). Yummo!

You should have seen the corgis running on the beach. Chasing and wheeling and knocking each other and doing barrel rolls--awesome! Also got an invite to an anthology and finished edits on the story for another. More info on all that later.

The only really nasty big fly in the ointment is that a good friend was diagnosed last week with liver cancer. It's ugly and she's younger than I am. Her breast cancer apparently metastasized to her liver and at this point, there's not enough info yet about what's going to happen, except that it's going to be a long and difficult process and I'm so sick about it. If you've got any spare prayers, send them her way. Her daughter is only 6.

And now, I"m off to bed. I'll talk to you all tomorrow I hope. I took some pictures (even got a pic of a shiny slug track on moss) and hopefully I'll figure out how to upload them. Also, my laptop has a shiny new keyboard. I do love my applecare.
