The One Legged Goose
[image error]
The One Legged Goose
A one legged goose
With his love by his side
Gliding along
A smooth looking ride
Underneath
All hell breaks loose
The thrashing foot of the one legged goose

Knights of Old
[image error]
Knights of Old
In days of yore
Of damsels and maids
Of women most fair
When battle was made
A mighty steed
A rampant charger
Dazzling armour
A knight sat proud
A lance in his hand
Spurs on his feet
He threw down the gauntlet
Cast his gage
Of rage and fury
On battlefield bleak
Judge and jury
And justice did reek
Gods will be done
Trial by combat
A test of arms
Running the lists
A lance in his hand
An axe, A sword
Maybe a mace
The weapons of a lord
Shield bedecked
With scarlet eagle
A griffin rearing
The three lion device
The sanctity of arms
The benediction of might
The blessing of arms
The glory of battle
The power of might
The right of power
Razing villages to the ground
E’en the flower filled bower
Men without charms
To the slaughter like cattle
Serfs and peasants
Mere cannon fodder
A time of majesty
They’d have us believe
But the reality was
Worse than we can conceive

Introducing John W. Howell, author of My GRL, His Revenge and Our Justice
Imagine if you will a gorgeously sunny afternoon. The sun is beginning to drop into the ocean. A soft wind is drawing fluffy white streaks into mesmerizing pictures. Ships bob in the nearby dock. There is a little table outside a beach side café. I drop into the seat opposite my next guest.
Hi John, it’s so good of you to give me a little of your time. First up, tell me a bit about yourself.
My day starts in the morning with a big cup of coffee and a few e-mails. Then it is off to the beach with the two boxers and my wife. Depending on the day of the week, next…

Indie Interview: John Howell
Great Interview with John Howell
Today’s Indie Interview is with John Howell, whose John J. Cannon trilogy has nothing but positive reviews from its readers. He stopped by to talk about the books, and what inspired him to write them.
Hi, John. Welcome to Read A Lot.
Q: Had you always planned on becoming a published author?
A: Since I was in High School I wanted to write. I tried many outlets. I was on the school paper and yearbook staff. Nothing ever came of my desire until I decided to write a book. I started it in 1993 and finished it in 2003. I was working at the time so had to write on weekends and late nights. I printed the book off to take on a trip so I could edit. After fifty pages,

Hamhock Holmes and the Case of the Missing Cheese Taster
Well, it seems that the highly talented Chief Pig Officer, (C.P.O) at J and I Publishing, Sir Bacon Doughnut Royal, has added yet another string to his bow and become a published children’s author. Is there no limit to this Pig’s talent?
As a loyal employee I wanted to share this with you all and to let you know that he is working on the next adventure for the intrepid Hamhock Holmes and his trusty sidekick Agatha the Pug.
Description
“Hamhock Holmes and the Case of the Missing Cheese Taster,” is the first book in the Inspector Bacon Mystery Series for kids, ages 7-12.
Hamhock and his sidekick, Agatha the pug run a detective agency in London. When Mrs. Brie Gruyere stumbles into the office, desperate for help finding her missing husband, the head cheese taster for the Lemmington Cheese Factory, Hamhock and Pug know they have a case worth solving before them.
There’s more to this mystery than they first think. The family recipe book for the cheese factory is also missing…and there’s something skunky going on across the road.
Relying on wit, clue finding and Pug’s ability to create distraction, this mystery solving duo will stop at nothing to get the job done!
This is a chapter book for intermediate readers, with some harder words included for practise. This book has a British theme, and is mostly written in British English, so the spelling of words reflect that.

Hey, Yo!
Important Advice
Formality. In the age of easy self-publishing and digital books, where has it gone? I understand addressing someone you know pretty well by first name. I understand addressing someone you don’t know by their first name if that’s what they introduce themselves as, or if they have a name tag with only their first name on it.
What I don’t understand, is the finer art of the email query in modern society and the digital age. If you want someone to do you a favor, or consider your work for publishing, or become your agent, your reviewer, your proofreader, editor, whatever role you wish them to play, can you not take the time to at least spell their name correctly and check to see if they even take the kind of work you are trying to push?
Bart Smith is an editor. Now, of course he would never be so…
