A Kindle Clean Out Win!

Why did I put off reading this book for so long! It’s been on my Kindle since it’s Bookbub ad, which was a million months ago. I just never felt like I was in the mood for a Young Adult novel.

A Young Adult novel.

After reading this book, I had to jump online to make sure I wasn’t wrong about the genre, but no. Right there on Amazon, it’s listed as Young Adult. Also, the cover looks YA to me. LOVE the covers, by the way, but I just have certain expectations when I open a YA novel.

This...

Kindle Clean Up #1

I’ve been in the mood to read lately, but am at a total loss as to what book to pick up. I’m not sure what my mood is, and every new book online seems just like another. So I decided to read some of the novels that have been sitting on my Kindle for a while. I’m calling it the great Kindle Clean Up, and the books that I’m “reviewing” won’t have their authors or titles mentioned, because they didn’t make the “I love it” cut. So here are my super vague reviews of a couple of the books I’ve “rea...

Spreadsheet Guy and the Secret Coffee Club

A day dedicated to coffee? Yes, please!

It’s hard to believe that I once turned up my nose at coffee. Always loved the way it smelled, but despised the way it tasted.

Until Spreadsheet Guy stumbled upon the Secret Coffee Club.

It was at his old work place, a former air force base converted into office building space. I’ve never been inside, but I have a bleak view of the rooms and corridors. Probably because Spreadsheet Guy often talked about seeing air and water quality inspectors there, uh,...

One of my few auto-buy authors

I know I’m a sci-fi and fantasy romance author, but I also read a wee bit of historical romance on occasion. One of those occasions is when Joanna Bourne releases a new book.

Joanna Bourne.

Man! I don’t know whether to love her or hate her.

Okay. I do know. I love her. I adore her and every single word she puts on a page.

Or a screen.

Whatever.

The point is, she’s the greatest author out there right now writing books, and it’s not just because her stories and characters are fantastic (though...

Progress

It’s been a month since my pacemaker surgery, and I finally feel like I’m getting things under control. Most days, I’ve been writing first thing. This is huge because I’ve barely written at all these last two months. I have an extreme amount of mental clutter. Much of it is over health issues, but there’s all that whole being-a-mom thing. The boys take up a huge amount of space in my head!

But I’ve been working on habit building. The write first thing is one. I’m not putting any pressure on m...

You Need to Watch M. Night Shyamalan’s New Movie, Split

Raise your hand if you’ve heard of this movie? I hadn’t until two weeks ago. A Facebook friend mentioned how good it was (thanks Jen!), so Spreadsheet Guy and I decided to watch it.

We watched the trailer first, and I have to say, that made me almost not want to watch it. It freaked me out! I don’t like horror, and the trailer made this look like horror. Spreadsheet Guy, who knows how easily I get weirded out by things, said we could stop it at any time, so I settled in expecting to head to b...

Write a Review Wednesday, on a Thursday (again!): Evolution, Beginnings

It’s not completely my fault. I was at the doctor on Tuesday for THREE hours waiting to get an xray of my right rib cage, which hurts like HELL every time I cough. (Don’t even ask about sneezing. I’ve come close to crying.)

The rib pain started almost two days after my pacemaker surgery. I thought it was weird, but when I woke up in the hospital, the nurse said I tossed around quite a bit. When I tried to get up to go home, I realized I was tied to the bed. Sort of. The sheets were no longer...

WARW (on a Thursday): A Breath of Fire

I finally finished A Breath of Fire. The book has been out for around three months. It took me a few weeks to get started reading it, but I was immediately hooked. I love this book just as much as the first one, A Promise of Fire. The book picks up soon after the events in the first book, and we learn more about Kat, her background, and the world that she and Griffin live in.

The first thing that I have to note is that the first 10% of this book is all sex.

Seriously. It’s all sex. Well-writt...

Cyborg Sandy

Hey guys! Sorry I’ve been totally silent for a while. It’s been an interesting and sort of frustrating few months.

Last week, I got a pacemaker. Yep. My heart has issues. Apparently, when I faint, my heart stops beating for around ten seconds. Or maybe I faint because my heart stops beating. It’s the chicken and the egg problem of which came first, but either way, it’s not supposed to happen. Thus, the pacemaker.

For those who have been following me a while, you might remember the I-broke-my...

WARW: Dark Minds by Michelle Diener

dark-horseYou guys, if you haven’t read this series, get ye to the electronic bookstore and buy Dark Horse, the first book in this awesome sci-fi romance series.

If you have been following me for a while, you know that I’m extremely picky when it comes to sci-fi romance. It has to be the perfect mix of intriguing, high-octane adventure and romance. Linnea Sinclair does this perfectly. So does Rachel Bach. There have been a few other books I’ve enjoyed as well but I think Michelle Diener’s Class 5 serie...
