On author etiquette

I'm on vacation…so while you're reading this, maybe I'm relaxing.  Will read comments when I get back.

So I saw a tweet to this blog post:

Author Etiquette: Should They Respond to All Reviews?

I started to respond there, but figured hey… I always need blog fodder.  So I'll do it here.

The post stemmed from Malle Vallik's post @ RTB.

Malle's tips were:  (as copied from Sarah's blog)

But it's still work.

Hi.

I'm like 9k away from finishing Hunter's Fall.  Until I finish it?  My brain is mush. Posting may be scarce. Or weird. Or erratic. Or sparsely, erratically weird.

Scratch that.  As of 1am on 10/17 , a few hours after I wrote up this blog to post in a few days, I finished the book.  Is done.  But now my brain is off recovering.  So continue to expect so sparse, weird, erratic behavior…

On the road to Seward, AK

On the road to Seward, AK

And I was actually plotting…in advance.

I was using PBW's handy little novel notebook. some books on characterization/plotting, etc and I started actually plotting the book.  Before I wrote it.

Why am I telling you?  *G*  Because looking back, I think it was a an experiment…a successful one.  I don't plot, or I don't plot easily and when I do, I don't plot well.  I...

Wanted to share

For a while, I've been sending books overseas to the soldiers.  A lady I know collects the books and send them overseas.  She also shares the names of some soldiers who aren't getting much in the way of cards and stuff.

She sent me this yesterday and I wanted to share (with permission)…one of the soldiers in the clip, about halfway through, is Kevin Hutcheson.  He's one of the guys who works with my friend about getting the books, cards, etc to his men and women.

Busy, busy…instead of blogging, I'm posting an excerpt

Got a book that wants to be done.  Taking the easy way out today.

here's an excerpt from Candy Houses:

Rip drifted awake slowly. He could sense Greta was near. Feel her hand on his brow. The soft, gentle touch of her fingers stroking his hair. She wasn't scared or worried, so that must mean they were safe—which meant he could enjoy waking up next to her.

They were talking.

Caught in the twilight between sleep and waking, he could hear...
