I’m ready to return to Edana and as such, I begin to dress in anticipation of seeing where all of this will lead. My new attire fits perfectly. I place the old, which has been cleaned, and the new, extra set, into my bag, and tie it closed. My sword is lashed to my waist, and bow and quiver stored where they belong. Grabbing the bag, I make my way out of the room and down the corridors leading out to the stables.Valiant is a sight to behold. His coat is gleaming, and the fresh, brown saddle looks welcoming indeed. Stowingmy gear, I unlash him from the tie-up post, and we walk out into the bright morning sun. “Ready my friend? We have a long travel ahead of us and more adventures to be had.” I say this intentionally louder than I need to in case any prying ears are listening.Flinging my leg over, and giving him a loving pop on the neck, we are off. Outside the front gate, we head east and ride for most of the morning. Rolling hills and sparse pockets of trees fly by as we push hard. At midday, I turn us northwesterly so that we are now heading back towards the Mountains of Dubh and the cave where Edana is recovering. IF we were being followed, we should’ve convinced them by now that we have no reason to stay in this kingdom.This has put us considerably out of the way, but Valiant is showing no signs of fatigue, so we continue to push on at break-speed. Midafternoon brings us to within eyesight of the edge of the gloomy forest and the waterfall cascading down in the background.Why does Edana have such a hold on my thoughts? I have seen, and had, plenty of beautiful women in my limited days. They were all just physical pursuits, though. There’s never been anything more to it; no desire for there TO be either. So why is it that I find myself so drawn to her? The feeling is deeper than carnal desire; NEED to be with her rather than a WANT. A feeling of totality.We pull up alongside the black, granite mountains and follow them to the bend where the cave is hidden. Hopping off of my trusty steed’s back, I remove my things and leave him to walk as he pleases. I never have to worry about him leaving. Our kindred relationship is symbiotic.Rounding into the mouth of the cave, I drop everything, including my jaw. Edana is lying across the blanket, her stunning body naked and uncovered. I stand there in complete awe and leisurely rake my eyes from top to bottom and back again. Her nipples are taught and peaked from the cool breeze, and the way her breasts rise and fall with her steady, sleeping breaths is hypnotic. Brushing across her lips with my thumb, I can feel the cool intake of air as she parts her lips minimally from the touch. Sliding my lips sideways over hers, I use the tip of my tongue to tease her. Grabbing her bottom lip between my teeth, I pull lightly before letting go. Turning my head, I place my lips against hers again and use my tongue to open her willing mouth, giving me access to let our tongues explore one another. She’s aggressive and begins to suck on my tongue, pulling it firmly into her mouth, sending a warm flush across my skin from shock and desire.

She squirmed and finally released her outer hand from his hold to beat her fist against his chest. “Beast! She hit him harder. “You and your entire cowardly clan will rue this day.” He stopped abruptly and shifted his grip. Her feet fell downward but found no purchase on solid ground. She hung suspended from the large hands thrust under her armpits. The heels of those palms pressed against her breasts, and heat flooded her body at the intimate touch. “You, you …” He and every MacKai disgusted her beyond words. Raising her head to berate him further, she stilled. Once more, the gleam in those stony eyes compelled her attention. The downward tip at the outer corner of his lids gave him a slumberous appearance belied by glints of indecipherable emotion. Those deceptive lids narrowed. She longed to hide but could not look away. “Listen to me.” His quiet words slid over her skin, causing a rise of goosebumps. “You are naught but a troublesome woman. You have no power or authority here, so if you value your overly pampered English hide, you’ll nae insult clan MacKai. Do you understand?” She swallowed and nodded. “Excellent.” He tossed her over his shoulder, secured her legs against him with an arm, and continued walking. “How dare…” One of those huge palms smacked her rump. “Oooo! I’ll make you regret you ever touched me.” A second smack was followed by an order for silence. Since her backside began to throb, Jessamyn subsided in favor of plotting retribution. She’d start with boiling in oil followed by a sound beating and end with banishment. She was deciding whether or not to add tar and feathers when she heard the creak of leather hinges. They crossed a doorway, and she went flying through the air to land in a heap, face down on a feather bed. “Dry clothing will be brought. Dinna imagine I care for your comfort. I simply canna be bothered to find another woman if you catch an ague and die.” She struggled to right herself, sputtering and pulling her hair from her face. The brute deserved the sharp side of her tongue. She gathered breath as she turned to speak, just to see the coward disappear and the door bang shut behind him. He was not getting away that easily. She leapt from the bed, ran for the door, and nearly jerked her arms from her shoulders when the wooden barrier refused to budge at her angry pull. Dumbfounded, she could only stare. I've been barely able to contain myself this past two weeks, just bursting to tell you the good news, and now at last I can. The Tutor has a very special place in my heart because it had its beginnings last October at Smut Manchester during Kay Jaybee'swonderfully wicked "trip to the supermarket" workshop on inspiration. she was sent by her father's law firm to handle his probate, personal affairs, and summer estate. She was also sent there to rest as she was recently diagnosed with a heart condition. Such is the beginning of Muffy Wilson's The Para-Portage of Emily. Emily's stay was supposed to be uneventful. However, as she dug deeper, she uncovered more than what was normal. Muffy Wilson wrote about a love which transcends time. In the Para-Portage of Emily, this love was put under scrutiny and was explained thoroughly.

The novel was exquisitely done. It was written with such grace that even when it took time to uncover all the mysteries, it was worth it in the end. The dialogues were cleanly written, too. This was a book I had the pleasure of savoring. How Muffy Wilson wrote it will give readers the right feel. The sensitive details were written with such grace that it didn't sound too much. In terms of the characters, they were like real life people. They were suitable for the story and not out of place. As far as I'm concerned, I'm in love with Emily. In addition to that, I was torn between Colin and Cooper. Overall, I think The Para-Portage of Emily is a wonderful, seductive read. It's definitely a page-turner. If you are a fan of romance, this book is an indulgence. It was mine.

I was hooked in the story within a few pages and I just couldn't stop reading the book. It was impossible to put it down once I had started. The story is very well written and unfolds very nicely for the reader. It drags you in and keeps you spellbound.
Their is a nice mix between paranormal, romance and mystery in the book and you can see that Muffy Wilson combines them very well in this book. I must say that just the way of combining things into one book is what makes this book so good. It is not just pure anything, but more than pure awesome.

I like how the story is told and how the book is written. The style and tone is very well done and the tone of the language and how the language is used to drag the reader in, is what makes the book so good. Emily is also a very entertaining character that I like a lot and at first I was unsure about her but the more I got to know her the better I liked her. The character development and how they grow and change in the book is also very nice and very well done. You can see the character changing and growing in the story and how they react to things in the story to a good way.

The red-hued ringlets of silken curls fell around her shoulders to her back and breasts. The soft wisps of curls framed the beauty that was her face and her eyes softened with love and desire.

Take the shackles which separate us off one by beautiful one and leave them in a puddle of cotton and gabardine at your feet. Gavin’s gaze was drawn back to the castle’s battle-scarred walls and the heavily armed guards. The evil emanating from the structure surrounded and held him captive, like a lone deer surrounded by hungry wolves in the dead of winter, unable to move, its eyes glassy with fear, its limbs frozen by the hypnotic gleam of the wolves’ yellow eyes. Even knowing its life was ending, the deer wouldn’t break and run. So Gavin sat frozen in front of the castle. 

The enormity of his quest enveloped Gavin and he sighed. Continuing on meant he might save the Wild Man, but he might put himself in danger as well. King Edward was his father’s enemy and possibly responsible for Aldred’s murder. If Gavin were caught, Edward wouldn’t treat him kindly. The young prince summoned his courage and focused on the Wild Man. It had seemed so simple last night in the company of Bryan and Philip.

Philip

“I’ll be lucky if I ever get to the top. I need another lightning strike,” he muttered. He pushed himself upward. It took several more minutes and more backward progress before his wish for lightning was fulfilled. With the few seconds of illumination it provided, Philip spied a trail to the left leading to the top. He made his way over and was rewarded with firmer footing provided by the rocks imbedded in the dirt. He made it to the top in half the time it had taken him to get to the trail. 

At the peak, the relentless wind nearly toppled him. But Philip had too much at stake to be defeated. He hauled himself into the full brunt of the storm. Out to sea, the whitecaps rose and fell like his chest. His breathing, like the waves, was choppy and erratic. Philip stepped back from the cliff’s edge and looked around. A blast of white light flashed across the sky, revealing a small cave to the right. There was no sign of Dunham. For a moment, Philip gave into panic. Maybe the murderer had already been here, contacted the ship, and gone.

Bryan

He rode hard, not sparing his horse. It was in his hands now. His failure would mean the Wild Man would die along with his dream of becoming a knight. After crossing the Western Cleddan River twice and using the main roads, he avoided the mayhem left by the storm, and rode into the quiet village of Fishguard early that evening. The fishermen were likely already asleep. They would be up before dawn and the work of hauling in loaded nets was grueling. Only the tavern where he stopped to purchase cheese and bread showed any activity. On his way to Strumble Head, he ate and washed it down with the water he had packed. 

He reached the Head at around eleven o’clock as the night was at its darkest. Only a sliver of moonlight forced its way through the clouds. It provided minimal light, but it was enough. He tied the grey in a stand of scrub well away from the trail, grabbed his sword, and walked to the point of the Head. The beach was deserted. His gaze swept the sea. Nothing.

I could list all the reasons I write for MG/Tween readers, but I decided it would be more interesting to see why writers, including myself, have chosen this genre. The following quotes (with a tad of literary license) are from many of the MG/Tween authors I’ve interviewed on Cheryl Carpinello: Those are the years where I remember devouring books: adventures, mysteries, fantasies, and animal stories. The characters and their adventures fueled my own imagination. As an adult I read across a number of genres, but I don’t find myself getting ‘lost’ in the adult reads. So, I write the stories from my youth.
Darlene Foster: I love the innocence of this age. This is also when children start to question issues and want to try new things. They begin to crave independence, but at the same time wish to stay in their comfort zone.
Matthew Daniel Brough: As a pastor, I mainly thought I would write non-fiction—something about God, theology, or spirituality. Finally, I decided that I would love for my daughter to be able to read a book that I had written.
Mariko Layton: Middle grade is such a great age. Middle graders read well and are eager to read by themselves. There are a lot of life lessons they need to learn, which are kid problems. I hope to help them with those issues.
Teresa R. Funke: As a writer of WWII fiction, I started getting invited to schools to speak to fifth-grade classrooms about writing and the war. At one visit, a girl said, “Mrs. Funke, this is so interesting. Why don’t you write some books for kids about the war?” That seemed like a great idea to me!
Peggy McAloon: I recognized early in life that kids are easily hurt and need someone to convince them to get help when they’re in trouble. So, I decided to write about a young role model who could inspire and encourage kids to stand up to the social injustices they face daily (abuse, bullying, loss, etc.). To do that successfully, I decided to draw on my love of reading. As a child, I discovered I could escape the pain and suffering of the real world by losing myself in the characters of the books I so dearly loved.
A. J.York: Middle grade fantasy really allows your imagination to soar. It brings me a great amount joy.
Julie Anne Grasso: Middle grade is such a sweet spot because kids this age are not quite ready for the reality of the world we live in. Fantasy and Mystery are how I choose to entertain them, with the hope to ignite their imaginations.
Dan Davis: The age group is perfect because I love writing books with straightforward prose, lots of story and fun and funny characters. I have never enjoyed writing more than I am now.
Kurt Chambers: When you sit down with young children and get into a conversation with them, it's the funniest thing in the world. Their perspective on life puts us adults to shame. You soon realize they have a craving for a world filled with magic and awe.
Carrie Cross: Some of the happiest memories from my ‘tweens involve cozy nights reading in bed, especially during a rainstorm.
Sara Stinson: I can let my imagination run wild. I love creating different worlds and characters. Adventure books are exciting! I enjoy watching the children’s eyes brighten as they sink their minds into a great story.
Christina Weigand: I want to provide to middle-grade readers a balanced reading palette. While they may be reading vampire books and the like, I also want them to see God’s side and to have a fuller, more well-balanced vision of what is out there, so they can make informed choices in their lives. After all they are the future.
Andy Mulberry: I think the best answer is that I’m a kid at heart and constantly have a funny/weird story or two in my head. Growing up, books gave me so much joy (they still do). If I can pass on the joy of books to impressionable young minds, all for the better *cue evil laugh*!
J. B. Pelts: As a kid I loved stories of adventure, like Treasure Island, Robinson Crusoe, and Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. It was the fact that these were adventures that you felt could possibly happen to you one day that drew me in, and I wanted to recreate something similar, but with the flow and bounce of the modern day classics.
