Looking Back: Poems from My Adolescent Self These poems were written by me between 1971 and 1975. That was between my junior year of high school and my senior year of college. The exception is the final poem. I wrote that a year after I met my husband and a year before I married him. I am happy to say that we are both Loving today.

I swooped down and kissed her, cutting her off. I knew what she’d seen, what they’d all seen. I didn’t want to talk about gymnastics now. Don’t get me wrong, I love it. I like being able to control my body to do these things, enjoy the admiration I get. It just wasn’t my focus here in the club. My interest was only in the beautiful woman in front of me.
