BrooksBlog: The Phantom Easter Bunny
Now that Easter Sunday has come and gone for another year, I want to tell you about the Phantom Easter Bunny.
We have a lot of traditions in our family, but they tend to vary greatly. Most of them make sense. Some of them offer teachable moments. Some drive me to distraction. But the one that involves the Phantom Easter Bunny is all of the above and then some.
Roughly a dozen years ago, Judine began receiving an Easter basket outside the front door of our Seattle home every Easter morning. Th...

BrooksBlog: It’s Finished!
It’s finished!
The third book in The Fall of Shannara quatralogy is done and put to bed. I wrote the last sentence on the 26th of March and went back to rewrite it five more times. Not because it needed to be rewritten but because it was a way to keep from letting go. It’s like this every time I finish a book. I am excited to have completed it, but I am fearful of giving it up too quickly. It’s not as if I won’t see it again. Anne will edit it thoroughly and it will come back for changes that...

BrooksBlog: Go To Ready Player One
Hey Everyone!
Just a quick reminder to pack up the family and get out to see READY PLAYER ONE while you can. See it on the big screen and be amazed. This is a movie for everyone, and I am proud to claim author of the book, Ernie Cline, as a friend, and producer Dan Farah as not only a friend but the man who made the TV show, The Shannara Chronicles, possible. Do not miss their latest effort; you will not regret a moment spent on the effort.
Magic Always,

Here is more about it:

BrooksBlog: A Few Loose Ends – Part 2
Back again. Maybe this will become a habit, who knows? In this short space of print, I want to talk a little about the end of a few things. Please bear with me on this if you’ve heard some of it before or already have the news. But I think all of it needs commenting on.
You never write, you never call, you don’t care about me.
I have reached a point where I have to admit I can no longer keep up with reader mail. I am sad about this. For the better part of thirty years, I always answered my ma...

BrooksBlog: A Few Loose Ends – Part 1
I’m a little late getting around to talking about ECCC in Seattle due to any number of things I am quite sure you don’t care to hear about. I want to thank the staff and organizers of this year’s epic event. At least where I was concerned, everything was well organized and handled. I had no trouble finding my way to my assigned posts, and the staff who worked the panel and spotlight events were right on top of things.
But most of all, I have to tell those of you of were able to attend that it...
