Cover Reveal: Warrior by Terry Brooks

Next week, Warrior by Terry Brooks publishes on September 11, 2018.

It is one of those rare moments in Terry’s career. For years, he said he likely would not return to the Word/Void trilogy and for years that remained true. No longer. Warrior is a novella set in that mythos, a powerful return to that storyline and one I think his readers are going to love. Here is more about it:

In 1997, Terry Brooks reinvented the fantasy genre with Running with the Demon, a dark contemporary urban fantasy....

Street Freaks: Chapter One

Publishing: October 2, 2018

Street Freaks has already received a number of industry book reviews. But my favorite is from Booklist:

“Fans of Brooks who are curious how the fantasy master deals with a science-fiction world should like this one.”

That sums up my feelings on it quite nicely. Street Freaks might be science fiction and a futuristic thriller but it still feels like his fantasy work. Like a BrooksBook. Great pacing, intriguing characters, imaginative settings, and a whole lot of dan...

Marc Simonetti Wins Chesley Award For The Sword of Shannara

Worldcon 76 is this weekend in San Jose, CA.

It is an excellent convention wherever it travels, celebrating the SF&F genre and all the talented people who work in it. It is home of the Hugo Awards, a kind of Academy Award for our industry. It is also the home of the Chesley Awards, an honor handed out by the Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists to recognize individual artistic works and achievements during a given year.

This year, Marc Simonetti was nominated for two different C...

Amazon Books Picks Street Freaks As Highly Anticipated

Publishing: October 2, 2018Amazon Books selected Street Freaks as one of 15 Highly Anticipated SF&F Books for Fall!

This is exciting! I’ve been able to see the publication path for Street Freaks from the time Terry started writing it all the way to this moment where I’m handling marketing and publicity for its October 2nd release. It is a giddy feeling to see a book like this come to fruition and head toward publication. Especially when it is something like Street Freaks — a wholly new form o...

Karen Russell Talks Terry Brooks & SF&F Prejudice

Terry Brooks gets a lot of his long-time readers from their teen years.

Therefore, it is not surprising that some of those teens grow up to become amazing writers, publishing their own books and creating their own worlds to share with us.

Karen Russell is one of them. She is the amazingly-talented author of Swamplandia!, which was a finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize For Fiction. Her stories have been featured in The Best American Short Stories, Conjunctions, Granta, The New Yorker, Oxford...

Terry Brooks & Allanon Join Unfettered III

Unfettered III just grew by one author! And a Druid!

Yesterday, I announced the line-up for the new anthology and pre-order links. You can see those details HERE.

What I did not announce yesterday was the fact that I was after a Terry Brooks contribution to Unfettered III, one people have been asking about for a long time. After getting the legal okay from Del Rey Books, Terry decided to submit the short story “Allanon’s Quest.” It is a prequel to The Sword of Shannara where the Druid is seek...

Pre-Order Now: Warrior by Terry Brooks

It has been a great year for Terry Brooks readers!

First, he published The Skaar Invasion, Book 2 of The Fall of Shannara. Its ending left people wanting more. And Terry is delivering — in an entirely different way. On October 2nd, Terry is publishing Street Freaks, his SF futuristic thriller that is getting rave reviews so far. But until then, he has written something new.

And it will please all of those who love the Word and the Void trilogy and the short story that was its basis, Imaginary...

May ASK TERRY Posted

Terry BrooksFor many years the only chance a fan had of speaking to Terry was to meet him at tour events or conventions.

With the establishment of this website in 2000, Terry began accepting two questions from each fan per month. On the last day of the month, five questions are randomly drawn. Terry answers these five questions and they are posted monthly for your enjoyment.

Below are the questions selected from May 2018 and Terry’s answers! Enjoy!

Note: This section may contain spoilers!
