| Another Ace Double, this one leading with John Brunner's "Listen! The Stars!". A new fad has evolved, with people listening to sounds from outer space that almost seem to make sense. But some people who listen simply vanish... Dan Cross is assigned t ...more | |

| Ian Marter is one of the better novelizers for this series, but even he can't due much with this very lame story. Lots of running around and vague pacifistic theories abound, but there isn't much plot or characterization. Sadly, not one of the better ...more | |

| Lots of issues of the Black Panther magazine written by Christopher Priest, and, apparently, a fan favorite. I'm afraid that Priest's writing style left me unimpressed - lots of nice ideas, but overly-complicated and his lack of linear storytelling i ...more | |

| As a lover of "Jane Eyre", I was looking forward to this early work, unpublished while Charlotte was alive - and then I discovered why it had been left unpublished by her. Aside from being tedious reading, she gives us a very unconvincing portrait of ...more | |

| As a guide to both the Constitution itself and to the National Constitution Center, this book provides both background and talking points. Amply illustrated, it's a good introduction to the ideas and hopes behind the Constitution. ...more | |

| Not one of the spectacular issues, but a good, steady run of stories marks this volume. Writer Michelinie gives all of the Avengers a chance to shine (along with a few guest stars), and the artwork chores by John Byrne and George Perez never fail to ...more | |

| There can hardly be two more potent symbols of freedom than Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. The two belong together (the bell being cast to hang in the Hall), despite the Bell's travels over the years across the country. This beautiful book o ...more | |

| Issued when both series were high in the ratings, this is a very simplified account of both shows, detailing a lot of the episodes. Decent in its own way, but hardly in-depth. | |
“There's always the possibility that you're going to come across a record that transforms your life. And it happens weekly. It's like a leaf on the stream. There are little currents and eddies and sticks lying in the water that nudge you in a slightly different direction. And then you break loose and carry on down the current. There's nothing that actually stops you and lifts you out of the water and puts you on the bank but there are diversions and distractions and alarums and excursions which is what makes life interesting really. It's fantastic.”
