My thoughts on "Dating a Writer"
The original of this is here: http://52hearts.tumblr.com/post/1126449830/20-great-things-about-dating-a-writer (at least I think it is)
I was amused by
xhirox
's take on it here: http://xshirox.livejournal.com/703822.html
This is my take on it.
Writers will romance you with words. If you mean talk about how awesome certain words like "thwart", "peril" and "triptych" are…then sure. I romance with words a lot.
Writers will write about you. Oh, heck yeah. And kill you like a punk. If I like you, I...

Cover Art for the BEAUTY HAS HER WAY Anthology
As promised on twitter, here is the cover art to BEAUTY HAS HER WAY (pre-order clicky link). The artist, fast becoming one of my favorite cover artists, is Alina Pete of Weregeek (a webcomic about gamer geeks you all should be reading).
This cover is a direct homage to the Luis Royo cover of Heavy Metal 140--one of my favorite Royo covers ever. Alina did a great job of capturing what I wanted in this cover.
With this cover art and the anthology author list, I couldn't be happier

Trying to Catch Up.
I am trying to catch up on work and recover from jet lag at the same time. It is not going as fast I'd like. Two weeks in Australia and New Zealand have left me with a lot of news and such. Here's some of what I know about:
Editor Bits
* Ascension by Martin Livings from my anthology GRANTS PASS has been chosen for Mirrordanse Books's Year's Best Australian SF and Fantasy, 2008/2009 edition

Welcome to the Edge of Propinquity. Issue 57 is now published. As summer shifts towards fall, things turn towards the dark. This month, we have a change of heart, a deadly bargain, the return of a deadly temptation, dreams of a black past and an unexplained encounter.

Maschine Zeit: The Serpent and the Space Station
If you go over to DrivethruRPG, you can find the newest adventure kit for Maschine Zeit. They call it "The Serpent and the Space Station." There's a little voodoo, a lot of zombies, and all the stuff you love in Maschine Zeit. George Cotronis did the cover art. Bart Bechtel did the writing.
The basic premise is, the characters are sent to a hydroponics/biology lab, where there shouldn't be any survivors. There are some. Those survivors are embroiled in a disturbing feud, as one of them has tak...

Jeff and I are home.
I am home from Australia and New Zealand. It was a great trip but I'm glad to be home. If you have news, please email me or link me in the comments. Otherwise, I'll never catch up on stuff.
Pictures and stories soon. (I have a lot of both.)

Australia and New Zealand = Real Vacation
In two days, I will be traveling the farthest I have ever traveled. Europe was a long haul. Australia is going to be crazy. But, I'm excited. We've got the house/cat/mail sitter lined up and I'm happy to know that she has been fully accepted as part of the pride by even the littlest and most alpha of the kitties.

Pete Kempshall and the Ditmars
As mentioned on Twitter:
It has come to my attention that Pete Kempshall has been nominated for the Ditmar's "Best New Talent" - http://bit.ly/c0eoVz
Those of you voting in the Ditmars should seriously consider him. I've published him twice now and will send you one of his stories for free.
"Rites of Passage" from award winning GRANTS PASS anthology or "Dead Letter Drop" from CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE URBAN KIND. Just ping me.

My Last Name as an Author Identifier
As my writing and editing career grows, I continue to enjoy my "firsts"—first story bought before written, first GoH position held, first fan mail, first hate mail, etc—and I hope my notice and love of them never wanes. The further along in my publishing career I get, the more interesting and esoteric these "firsts" are. I think that is what makes them so interesting to me.
