Team YOU! How to Create Your Perfect Support Circle

What are your goals? What is it you are hoping to do, achieve or even become? Think about the people who inspire you, who have already achieved whatever it is you are setting out to do. No matter what it is – whether it’s something as basic as losing those extra pounds, recovering from a loss or setback, embarking on a course of study or new career or just handling whatever it is life throws their way on a daily basis, I can guarantee you that they didn’t manage it alone. They had a support circle, a team, a cheerleading squad if you like who were there for them, offering support, encouragement or just being a sounding board for ideas. The fact is when we have a major goal in life that we want to achieve, it is so much easier to get there if we have others who are on our team and with whom we share a similar goal or purpose.

For many people, sadly those closest to them are unable to offer them the support they need. You may be one of those – whose family reaction was discouraging or negative when you voiced your dreams. The great thing as we get older however is that we can choose to connect to people who give us the support, encouragement and honest feedback we need. And here’s how.

Think of a small group of friends who would make a great support group very much on the same basis as a book club. You don’t all have to have the same goal but you do all need to be on a path towards one. The fact that you’re not all wanting to achieve the same thing can actually work on your favour. Not only will you get a fresh perspective on your goal but it makes for a vibrant and interesting group – as well as opening you all up to resources you might not otherwise have access to. Focus on finding positive solutions for one another and share exciting achievements and stages towards your goals. Above all, be supportive and respectful of each other.

If you can’t think of any friends who would be interested in joining you then take the initiative and put out some ads asking for people to join your group. Unlike your friends however you may need to be a little more specific – for example Writer’s Support Circle, Weight Loss Support Circle. There are plenty of local free sites on the internet to advertise on. Be clear about how you want the group to function however and have your initial meeting with people in a public place. You can always move on to having meetings in each other’s homes later.

Research has proved that having this kind of support in place on a regular (and emergency) basis provides peace of mind and gives you the impetus to keep on track towards your goals when you may be tempted to give up. For example, having your buddy ring you to make sure you are going to the gym ensures you don’t sleep in instead!

Remember, Team YOU is actually Team Everyone in the circle because just as you are being supported by other members, you are offering your support in turn. Looked at this way, it becomes a wonderful experience for soul growth and sharing.

Let’s face it – our biggest soul growth opportunities come about through our intimate relationships. So, on a spiritual level it’s no wonder that finding that special soul connection is a top priority for most of us. On top of that of course, we are spiritual beings having this human experience and human beings are hard-wired to connect. We all need love and emotional connection. Given all this it’s no surprise that attracting and finding love is a subject that dominates not only the readings we give but also many of the articles on this site. When we’re searching for love it’s all too easy to become desperate without realising it. We start to look for a potential partner in every man/woman we meet instead of being open to whatever the connection may hold for us. The moment we start doing this we not only operate from a place of neediness (which incidentally we will be broadcasting louder than the Rolling Stones taking to the stage at Glasto), but we may unwittingly reject what could be a fabulous connection simply because at first glance the person doesn’t tick the boxes on our checklist. Now, I’m not saying we shouldn’t have a list of qualities we seek in a partner, but just because the person you’ve just met doesn’t meet them doesn’t mean they are not going to be important to you in another way. So be open. The universe works in mysterious ways.

You don’t have to be perfect to attract your perfect mate. The thing is, they’re not perfect either but you could be perfect for each other which is all that matters. But looking for a partner when you’re full of needy holes which will only get bigger the more we focus on the goal, is not the way to attract them. Or if we do, they will be full of holes themselves. LOVE your life the way it is and start doing that today by looking at the things you have in it that already ignite your passion and fire you up. Your life may not be perfect but I am sure you can find things in it that you adore – your pet, your job, your creativity, your family, your friends, an activity you do. Follow your passion by spending more time with the people and things that make you feel alive. When you make a commitment to passion, passion makes the commitment back to you – usually in the form of more things to be passionate about and that includes that special someone.

Live your life joyfully, love your life the way it is right now – without the need for a mate and know that they will come as passion is just about the sexiest thing out there – no matter what form it takes!

 

Changed Jobs? Moved? How To Find Your New Soul Group

Life doesn’t stay the same and it’s rare that we spend our entire lives in the same place. When we move, change jobs or even leave home for the first time for work or study, this is not just a major life milestone but it often means severing long-term connections too. It’s not that we don’t remain friends with the people we’ve been close to – and the internet and Skype certainly make that easier than ever before, but obviously they are no longer part of our everyday lives. Moving to a new area for whatever reason or changing jobs can mean we are faced with a big gap in our lives and sometimes a period of loneliness. So, if you find yourself in this situation, what’s the best way to attract new friends? The obvious answers such as joining a gym, signing up for a class sometimes don’t give us the results we want and if we’re feeling unsure of ourselves, this can compound any feelings of isolation and loneliness we may be having. Obviously these solutions can and do produce results for many but you should only join a gym or a particular activity if you love doing it – otherwise who are you hoping to connect with? The only other person there who hates the gym?

It’s a well-known spiritual law that we attract what we give out. So, whether you’re at work, buying your coffee, studying or even walking down the street, have a smile on your face. When we are happy we are sending out a positive vibe that attracts others. Don’t be afraid to say ‘Hello’ to someone who smiles back. Instead of thinking about the fact you’ve left your old friends behind, replace this with the thought that there are all the wonderful people you’ve yet to meet who are going to be your new friends.

Be generous with your smiles and if a conversation starts, don’t be shy, be chatty. Ask questions. It shows you’re interested in the other person and also don’t forget you need to get to know them! It’s no good forging a connection just because you are lonely. You do need to make sure you have certain things in common otherwise you will end up investing your time in friendships that go nowhere.

Always come from a position of what you have to give to the connection, rather than what the person may have to give you – i.e. alleviate your loneliness. This can be difficult if you are shy but why not approach people from the position that they may be shy and possibly lonely and how can you put them at their ease? When you are thinking of the other person rather than yourself you open up the potential for a true soul friendship to begin.

If you have a dog or small children then walking your dog or joining a playgroup is obviously a great way to connect to people as you have a great conversation starter! It’s the same for activities you really enjoy. Maybe a co-worker has a screensaver of their favourite TV show which also happens to be yours. There’s your opener. If you’re not working or studying, then a move away from your soul group can be extremely difficult but consider volunteering as a way to meet new friends.

Above all, don’t be afraid to try something new. When we move our new environment has a totally different energy to our previous one. It’s a mistake to try to bolt our old lives onto it or expect things to be the same. The new energy wants to bring us new people and opportunities but we have to be flexible and open to how they come through if we want them to manifest. So, while you may have rejected or not needed one method of making connections before, you may want to reconsider it after you’ve moved as it may be just the way to bring you the people you’re looking for.

How To Recognise a Past Life Connection

We’ve all been in the situation where we’ve met someone new but have this immediate and deep connection – sometimes to the point of being able to anticipate what they are going to say next – or feeling as if they’ve been in our life forever. Often this can mean they have been in a spiritual sense as this kind of ‘instant karma’ we feel with certain people is exactly that. A karmic, past life connection and the level of comfort and feeling we already ‘know’ someone is merely our shared history catching up with us and playing out in this lifetime.

These kind of past-life connections are easy to spot but what about others that may also stretch across several lifetimes and involve soul promises, but which may not be quite so obvious? How do we recognise them?

First of all, we need to understand that often the souls with whom we have the deepest connection and with whom we have chosen to learn and grow with are the ones who are there to teach us the most profound lessons. And sometimes these lessons are not easy. Just because you have known one another in a past life does not mean it will all be love and happy endings in this one. There can be many reasons for this. One or both of us can fail to learn the lesson or forgive on a soul level. Until this happens we will keep coming back – like students who have to re-take an exam, until we get it ‘right’. Also, we often have themes we have chosen to work through in this life and we may have several ‘soul mates’ – and I use that term in the broadest possible sense as a ‘soul mate’ is not necessarily a romantic partner but someone with whom we have chosen to form a connection with over several lifetimes; who have chosen to appear at various times in our life in order to help us learn a particular lesson. So, this all this in mind, what are the signs we should look for in even our most challenging relationships that we may have a strong past life connection with someone?

Look for the lesson. Are you learning something about yourself? Either in relationship to other people or your own behaviour? If you’re being challenged in some way – either positively or even negatively, this is one sign that there is an important soul connection here. The bigger the challenge and the more you have to grow on a soul level to meet it, then the number of lifetimes you have spent with this person increases. Remember – this goes for negative experiences as well as positive ones because often we learn more from failures than we do our successes.

Is the situation you’re in with this person part of a recurring theme for you? While you may not feel you have known this person before, does the situation you’re in feel oh so familiar? Is history repeating itself in some way yet again? We all come into this lifetime with set learning tasks. Sometimes we learn the lesson the first time – but if we don’t, then we are set to repeat it until we do. If you find yourself back in a situation that is repeating a past experience but with a completely different person then this is another sign of a deep past-life connection. As you failed to learn the lesson in the past, a new ‘teacher’ has appeared. Once you begin to recognise you and not the other person, are the common denominator, you will begin to release the lesson and your situation with them will transform – either by them leaving your life and you will have no more ‘lessons’ of this nature or by your relationship continuing but now on an entirely different level.

Is someone helping you for no apparent reason? Someone gives you a helping hand in some way with no expectation of anything in return. This could be a business mentor, a teacher or someone who offers you something you badly need right when you need it – and doesn’t necessarily expect to be paid back. This is a sure sign that this is someone you have helped in a past life, paying you forward in this one.

Is anything owed or left over after the relationship is over? You owe them something or they owe you. Or they’ve left something with you. This can be anything from a book, to money, a child or even a horse. Whatever it is, you or they aren’t going to get it back or take it back – not in this lifetime anyway!

Remember, past life soul promises are complex but look for these key signs as to clues you may have deep connections to people you wouldn’t have dreamed were that important!

 

That’s NOT What I Wanted to Hear In My Psychic Reading!

For most of us, a psychic reading leaves us empowered and optimistic about the future – or at least it should do! However, there are those rare occasions where the reverse happens. So, if you’ve just had a reading and you’re disappointed with what you’ve been told and are dreading the future instead of looking forward to it – what can you do?

First – consider the source. Is the psychic you’ve consulted reputable? Is he or she someone recommended by friends or from a reputable company? Not all psychic businesses operate from a place of integrity – nor do all psychics. We test all our readers at least four times and have a code of ethics, but some other companies don’t employ such rigourous standards.

However, if the psychic who gave you the reading has an excellent reputation you may now have to look at your own expectations. Did they not tell you what you wanted to hear? Perhaps your relationship is challenging. You may be all too aware of the problems but despite the evidence hope things will work out the way you want them to. Instead the psychic told you not what you wanted to hear but what you needed to know. That the relationship doesn’t have a future or that the person you’re hoping to reconcile with isn’t coming back into your life again. Be honest here. You may not like what you’ve been told but giving someone false hope where none exists has nothing to do with operating with integrity or empowerment – quite the reverse!

Timing. Any good psychic or astrologer will tell you timing is the most difficult thing to do. We can say events happen when the client is ready. Is it the timing you’ve been given that doesn’t sit well with you as opposed to what you’ve been told will happen?
