The Zorg Origami Association

What a wonderful surprise just arrived, a t-shrt from the aforementioned group. The Madfolder aka Leplieurfou has created some extraordinary Zorg animals by a process of cross-breeding (allegedly a common practise in France). Check them out here. He is a gifted technical folder and designer, with an eye for left-filed subjects. He’s also mad as a box of frogs, but I love him all the same. The T has a crane-like bird with an alien’s head. He even blames me for the original concept!

How did a copy of my latest book sneak into the shot? I’ve no idea…

C’est un rip-off ;(

Pop along to this site and scroll down to admire the many colour options for a “traditional design” being sold. Except that it’s my Ali’s Dish #2. If you are able, please leave a comment to this effect!

Music to fold to!

I’m always reluctant to push things onto other people, but my band Lost Garden have a new CD out and I need to shamelessly promote it! You can hear audio samples on the EE site. Music is a HUGE part of my life and I’m very proud of this record (CD!). It’s ambient electronic music with guitar and keyboards and perfect for folding to – please invest in a copy!

Crazy prices

I’ve been looking for (and struggling to find) a way to find a couple of my books within Japan, that I could buy and post to a potential publisher there. Anyway, whilst checking amazon out, I spotted these utterly stupid prices for my Encyclopedia of Ori. I just hope nobody actually pays these prices. What are they thinking of??

Niklas Adams

I recently spent a happy night at the famous orivideographer Sara Adams’ home – I had work in Germany and flew from Munich, so it seemed a good idea to arrange a visit. We had some great food & conversation and I met her two lovely children – here I am scaring the bejaysus out of Niklas ;)

Star Flower 1

I’ve revisited an old idea for a new project. I’m very pleased with the results ;)

Shard

Had a phone call today enquiring about an origami model of the London Shard that could be made by children. I came up with this simple but (I hope) effective design.

Cheap Sunglasses!

pub_coverEd Reinhardt contacted me for permission to make a video of my sunglasses (from my Pub/Barstool Origami book) and raised the bar for consideration – not only did he ask first, but posted a large credit at the start, made edits for me AND used one of my music tracks as the audio for it! The video itself is unusual, showing two side-by-side view of the folding process -an interesting idea.

For trivia fans, the music is called “The Battle of Reverb Plate” (one of my punny titles) and was a challenge to make use of different reverberation effects, produced for the wonderful Chain Tape Collective.
