In case you missed the earlier posting. My column today on the 1812 Cadiz Constitution.

'La Pepa'
opinion.inquirer.net
The Philippine Constitution of 1987 is taken up in Hekasi (high school), and in Philippine history and political sciences courses (college) without a corresponding study of the various constitutions we have had in the past. If at all, passing reference is made to the 1897 Biak-na-Bato Constitution;...

Thanks to Rose Sapitan who didn't understand Spanish and the warning from the bodyguard not to take pictures I have another souvenir with Spanish King Juan Carlos to whom I had the honor of being presented formally in 2007 and 2010. This is one of the highlights of our attending the bicentennial of the 1812 Cadiz Constitution.

To see our flag flying abroad always gives me a sense of pride but makes me wonder why the same flag is often ignored and abused back home. Our flag presently flies in Spain together with the flags of the Ibero-American nations who share our historic links with the 1812 Cadiz Constitution.

After 3 flights and almost 24 hours of air travel and airport lay-overs I'm finally in Cadiz, Spain to attend the 200th anniversary of the Cadiz Constitution of 1812 a.k.a "La Pepa." Senator Edgardo Angara could not attend due to the ongoing impeachment trial and was thoughtful enough to send me as his representative. Will post pix soon.

Sorry for the late posting. My Inquirer column today on urban legends and hearsay.

Urban legends
opinion.inquirer.net
There is an urban legend in the Ateneo on how the late Fr. Jose A. Cruz (grandnephew of Jose Rizal and university president) once surprised his philosophy students when he entered the classroom with a saw and a piece of wood. Without saying a word he began to saw and continued doing so for about 20 ...
