On September 29, 1898 a fiesta was held in Malolos to celebrate the solemn ratification of the declaration of Philippine Independence made in Kawit on June 12, 1898.
The menu for the fiesta had a cover in the shape of a Philippine flag (Left). When opened , it revealed the menu in French (Middle) as reproduced in Harper's History of the War in the Philippines (1900).
For close to a century, what we knew of the Malolos Banquet was based on the Harper's reproduction ...
