How to Avoid Back Surgery After Your Doctor Recommends It | Chad D. | Better Man Podcast Ep. 109

About 12 years ago, today’s guest, Chad, pulled his back out like never before. He was bedridden for four days. He couldn’t walk properly for weeks. And when he went to his doctor, his doctor told him: He had the back of an 80-year-old man at only 42!

Determined to avoid surgery, Chad started to focus on specific exercises that could improve his back like in-person yoga classes, physical therapy, and watching random YouTube videos.

56-Year-Old Wildlife Photographer Battles 200+ Tumors with Yoga | Lee H. | Better Man Podcast Ep. 108

Lee H., a 56-year-old wildlife photographer, hasn’t always been a bastion of health. After a shocking divorce, Lee ballooned up to almost 300 pounds even though he only stands 5’7” tall!

To make matters worse… Not only does Lee’s career make him put his body into bizarre positions—sometmes for hours at a time—but Lee also suffers from multiple familial lipoma syndrome: A rare, genetic skin condition that causes him to have 200-300 tumors on his body at any given time.

And you know what? Thanks to Man Flow Yoga, Lee lost 50+ pounds, extended his photography career, and used it as a starting point for dialing in his diet.

Why Implementing Change Slowly Unlocks Superior Results | Steve T. | Better Man Podcast Ep. 107

While Steve has been a long-time hiker, he never really thought about exercise until he reached his mid-50s and noticed his body was starting to break down. Steve spent his career working a typical desk job where he hunched over a computer. And this caused immense knee and shoulder pain.

Since he wanted to continue to hike as he aged, Steve knew he needed to do some form of exercise to keep his body free from pain. He thought yoga could keep his body in “hiking shape,” but the one hot yoga class he attended made him feel uncomfortable. Not only was the class hot, but he was the only guy in the class too.

That’s when he searched for “yoga for men,” and became a Man Flow Yoga Member. This happened six years ago.

How Man Flow Yoga Helped Scott’s Spinal Stenosis More Than His Physical Therapist Did (Member Highlight: Scott T.)

Around eight years ago, Scott T. developed lower back pain. Since he sits at a desk for work and enjoys walking in his local city park, this lower back pain started to worry Scott. And so, he did what most men in a similar situation would do: He scheduled several visits with doctors, chiropractors, and physical therapists.

After getting a spinal stenosis diagnosis, Scott started going to a physical therapist once a week. His physical therapist was an immense help because movement was the only thing that made his back feel better. But then, covid shut down the world.

Before discovering Man Flow Yoga, Richard B. (today’s Better Man Podcast guest) developed intense hip pain from his job. His pain was so strong that he actually thought he developed a kidney stone!

As he started doing physical therapy for his pain, he was reminded of how similar physical therapy and yoga are. Unlike most Man Flow Yoga Members, yoga played a large role in Richard’s fitness regimen for most of his life.

While he preferred doing yoga in a yoga studio with others, he quickly changed his tune after his first Man Flow Yoga session.
