Just For Fun – An Assortment of Groaners
I’ve been super busy with final edits for Identity Crisis–I’m at the “Let Fred Read It” phase. Plus Steve Marvel is sending me chapters of Deadly Production to listen to as we get that project off the ground. Plus, there’s still the WIP to work on. So, today’s post is just for fun.
For the last few months, I was posting “groaners” (puns, bad jokes, etc.) on my Facebook Page. I had accumulated about 6 pages of them, but eventually, I used them up. However, while looking through old files, I fo...

When Someone Calls 911- A Writer’s Tour of a Com Center
When I wrote In Hot Water, I made one of the characters a Dispatcher for her small county Sheriff’s Department. For In Deep Trouble, that character became the heroine, and I needed more information about what happens when someone calls 911. I had been through the dispatch office in the department I was basing the story on, and followed up with questions the local dispatch supervisor was happy to answer. Today, I thought I’d share with you a post I wrote back in 2007 aft...

What’s Cooking Wednesday – Mom’s Almond Torte
I ran this recipe back in 2011, on my old blog. I thought it was worth revisiting. Although Mom used strawberries, you can use the fruit of your choice.
Glazed Almond Torte (with Strawberries)
Ingredients:
1 c blanched almonds, (5 oz)
c sugar
4 eggs
cup macaroon cookie crumbs (Mom uses Amaretti cookies, but plain macaroon cookies are fine – The crisp ones, not the chewy kind. Grind them in a food processor, then measure.)
cup butter, softened, (half a stick)
1 t baking powder
1 t vanilla
