How Tambi Changed Everything
*ECHO SPOILERS!*
If you haven't finished reading Echo yet then you shouldn't be reading this, you need to get back to the book and read the big finish!!!
===============================================================
I have posted a new selection of original pages for sale, and I selected these pages because they have some meaning to me. For example, the page in Echo when Ivy makes a call for some outside help. The call is taken by a couple of ladies on a distant beach. The back of one lady is covered in an enormous tiger tattoo. For new readers, this is merely interesting. For readers of my previous series, Strangers In Paradise, this is a jaw-dropping, OhMyGodHeDidn't!!!! scene because these two ladies are from SiP. Fans of SiP know them very, very well; they know everything about them, where they came from, what they're capable of… so Ivy's phone call opens many doors, not just for Echo, but for my work as a whole. If the characters from SiP can be in Echo, that means it's all connected and… well, it boggles the mind. At least, it does my wee little cranium. And it all began here, with page 19 from the 26th issue of Echo. Which is for sale. Compare the Echo page with a page from SiP.

And here, in close-up and sharper detail, is a following page in SiP compared to Tambi's Echo premier. If you were a SiP fan and saw this back show up in Echo, you knew EXACTLY who it was, and you knew things were about to get serious. So fun.

Nominated for Ghastly Awards
Sounds like a posh Brit on BBC, doesn't it? "Oh dear, I've been nominated for some ghastly awards." But that's the name of them, The Ghastly Awards, celebrating the ghoulish accomplishments in fiction. They are new, and it's an honor to be nominated right out the gate by them. I'm nominated for two categories, Best Inker and, of all things, Best Letterer. I've never received a nod for lettering before. See, you live long enough and eventually one of everything happens, sometimes twice.

Rachel Rising a Best Seller on ComiXology
Rachel Rising #1 made the Best Seller list at ComiXology based on last week's launch. Thank you, everybody who made that possible!
What I'm working on today…
Things are quiet this week as I begin working on Rachel Rising #7. This issue is also the first issue of the next story arc which will be collected someday in Rachel's 2nd TPB. The first TPB, THE SHADOW OF DEATH, is at the printer as we breathe (can't really say as we talk, so switching that old saying to something more Shelleyesque).
I've had the printed Rachel Rising 6 in my studio for almost 2 weeks now, and I keep remembering you have not seen it yet. That issue will hit stores and ComiXology on March 7. We both have to be patient—me and you, my only customer—we both have to be patient, the two of us. Or you could just come over to my house and read my copy, then we could go eat Chinese and talk about it.
So, keeping my head down and drawing my ass off here at Abstract Studio's expansive facility somewhere deep in the bowels of Houston proper. But many new and exciting projects are cooking. Announcements to come as they are confirmed. I'll keep you posted.
Meanwhile, enjoy this photo of Jet's car (not yet seen in the series but very real in my mind). Still needs a fuel pump.

UPDATE: What's coming soon!
Rachel Rising 6 is on the trucks heading for stores everywhere. It will be on the shelves March 7. This will also be available digitally for same day release at ComiXology. As we get closer to this date, maybe I will post 2 or 3 preview pages. This issue is very intense. The ending will stun you.
At the printer now are:
Rachel Rising: The Shadow Of Death —This is the first TPB of Rachel, collecting issues 1-6. It's 128 pages for $15.99, with previews of the cover art to issues 7-9 included. How To Draw Beautiful will also be available digitally at ComiXology.
How To Draw Beautiful —This is the 3rd in the How To Draw series. 24 pages of my notes and thoughts on how I draw and what I strive for in my art. My How To Draw series is designed to give you information not found in other books. If you have a a few instruction books already, my book is still unique because I talk about aspects the other books don't. There's more to learning art than, "Here, I drew something—copy it." This book will be out mid-March.

Rachel Rising Debuts Today on ComiXology
Today Rachel went up for sale on ComiXology! Issues 1-5 are now available. Issue #1 is 99cents, the rest are $1.99 each. And, in case you're wondering, yes, beginning with the next issue, ComiXology will post same day releases of all new Rachel issues. That means, Rachel Rising #6 hits stores everywhere and ComiXology the same day, March 7.
Details: The price on new issues will be cover price, just like the stores, and will remain cover price until the following new issue comes out. Then #6 will go down to $1.99 and join the others in the catalog. Sound fair? I think so. I talked to some key retailers about it and they agreed it was an equitable arrangement. Nobody has the jump or price advantage during that critical new issue window.
The goal is to sell Rachel Rising through as many stores as possible. ComiXology is my online store, and the best there is. I'm very happy to join their ranks!
