Andy Finally Does It
After many years of exploration and good radio conversations about marriage, on line dating, and life, my long-time producer, and dear friend, finally got engaged last week. To a very lovely and delightful woman, I might add.
Here's the link to the short video he produced to share that news. The proposal comes in the last 90 seconds.
May the the God of life bless Andy and Natalie with the fullness of His grace and >>>>> Read Entire Post

Jerry and HIs Tumor
Almost three years ago to the day, my friend "Jerry" was diagnosed with cancer. In his colon, on his liver, and eventually in his lungs. The doctors suggested that he had about two years at most to live.
Since that day, Jerry, a relatively young father and husband, has endured at least three major surgeries, perservered through countless rounds of chemo, and tolerated endless minor procedures.
Obviously, his life has been turned upside down. Actually, it has been refocused. Today, Jerry is still alive and doing quite well for now. But his demeanor and purpose have changed considerably. Three years of intense suffering can bring clarity like nothing else.
I ran into Jerry yesterday. Two things stood out. First, how much closer Jerry has been drawn into his faith and the heart of God. He still works full-time and yet spends a lot of each day ministering to co-workers, clients, and fellow patients regarding >>>>> Read Entire Post

Life of Pi
Only got to one movie over the Thanksgiving weekend, but it was a fun one. Life of Pi.
Interesting interweaving of the power of story and the pain of tragedy. One sentence summary: Young man loses his family when a ship capsizes and then survives an incredible journey in a lifeboat accompanied by a bengal tiger. You have to see it for it even to make sense.
The movie is entertaining and interesting and even stirs a deep thought every now and then. A good dose of modern "all religions are the same" pablum, but other than that, and the need for a bit of editing to tighten the story (2+ hours in a lifeboat with one character is a lot) a great flick.

Mike's First Taste
Thank you for sharing your stories of your first time eating at Chick-Fil-A. This one touched me, with the image of a grandmother and grandson. It's gonna be our new ad on the show. Way to go Mike!
My first Chick fil a sandwich was at the Chick Fil A in South Dekalb Mall back in the early 70's. My Grandmother, who passed away in 1976, would always take me shopping at South Dekalb and we would eat Chick Fil A. She loved them and so did I. I think that first sandwich costs $1.79, which was high for back then, but worth every penny. We would always be disappointed when we went to South Dekalb Mall on Sunday and couldn't get our Chick Fil A sandwich because it was >>>>> Read Entire Post

Camille Paglia
Today's show includes time with my guest, Camille Paglia. She shares her wisdom on the war on men in America. Funny how people with totally opposite vantage points can still see the same thing happening.
She'll be in town this Thursday. Get the info >>>>> Read Entire Post

First Time Memory
Mary Ann writes me of her first time at Chick Fil A:
I went with my mother in law. We both had the chicken soup and could not believe how it tasted like when our mothers made home made chicken soup (in the 30s, 40s and 50s) when they would hang the noodle dough over the chair backs for a few hours after they rolled the dough out. When the noodles were cut, they were so o o thick, just like at Chik Fil A. It's great when a restaurant can contribute to fond >>>>> Read Entire Post

2012 ABC's of Thanksgiving
Gratitude can be hard to come by. That's why Thanksgiving is so important. Gratitude feeds your soul and produces joy and peace.
Plus, Thanksgiving doesn't ask for much. Just a day to calm down and get real with yourself about what a rich, full life you have. You may not have all you want, but if you live in America, you are among the richest people in the world regardless of your income. But the greatest blessings are rarely financial or material.
So I list 26 specific parts of my life for which I am grateful. I do it every year (and often more than that) to prevent stinginess and selfishness from taking over my soul. I share my list with you this year in three parts over the next three days. And invite you to craft your own list before Thanksgiving gets away from you and Christmas sweeps you into its frenzy.
A – AAA – they have saved my bacon three times this year. >>>>> Read Entire Post

First Time Delight
Listener Peggy shares her first time eating at Chick-Fil-A. Thank you for sharing your experience with me!
I was working at Burger Chef across the street from the Ford plant in Hapeville for my first job. After weeks of nothing but hamburgers, fries and shakes, I took an afternoon break and walked up to the original Dwarf House and had my first chicken sandwich from what would become Chic-fil-a. I was sixteen. The Burger Chef chain was gone by the time I finished college, but I was able to get my favorite sandwich at the first indoor mall in Atlanta, Greenbriar Mall which was much closer to my home. We were thrilled to have the expansion from Hapeville to the edge of East Point. Little did we know that over the next forty years our local sandwich would spread across the country, but never available on Sundays! Now I work with abused and neglected children and again find >>>>> Read Entire Post
