Bond Masterpiece
Saw Skyfall last night. Brilliant. Masterpiece on 50th anniversary of James Bond. Daniel Craig now fully owns that role. Well done. Loved it!
This film really was the breakthrough for Craig as the real Bond. No more Pierce Brosnan and Timothy Dalton nonsense. Craig fully steps into this role and demonstrates a real ability to act, not just perform stunts or be a brute male. He combines his nerve and physical prowess with an emotional capacity and range that thrusts him to the categories of Connery and Moore, and perhaps beyond. Didn't think he had it in him but he proved me wrong.
Plus, the moviemakers have re-tooled Bond for a new generation and for another 25 years. Q, M, amd Moneypenny all recast and refreshed. Love it!

Bond for Christmas
Great family time at Christmas. As part of that, we ventured into James Bond mode. I'd never seen Casino Royale or Quantum of Solace with Daniel Craig. Wanted to see those before getting Sky Fall, so we rented both.
Daniel Craig is no Roger Moore. Brute male versus suave and charming, but Craig still handles the role well and adds his own dimension. More action, less suave, but still excellent.
Only criticism would be the casting of Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale. She was a lightweight who could not carry the role. She failed to be emotive in any meaningful way and her average physical looks could not help compensate for her emotional limitations.
Other than that, two excellent films. Now on to Sky Fall.

Wake of Newtown
In the face of such tragedy, what do you say? What do YOU say?
Horrors like this make you evaluate what you think about life, your life, and the world.
We humans (particularly, men) kill other people, a lot. How else do you describe the Turks’ massacre of over 1 million Armenians in 1915, or the communist Chinese purging of more than 40 million citizens, or even most of the 31 school shootings in America since Columbine in 1999? Evil.
Yes, the Newtown shooter (whose name I refuse to use) has reminded us again that humans possess the capacity to do evil every bit as much as we can do good. Yet, while one man boiled over in rage and senselessly murdered twenty little children, six adults, his mother and himself, hundreds of heroic teachers and administrators, first responders, law enforcement officials, pastors, and normal citizens responded in tremendous love. Sacrificial, giving, selfless love. >>>>> Read Entire Post

Precocious at 3
In the weeks leading up to Christmas (Advent), years ago, my brother, James, figured it all out. He was just three when my parents took him to church and dropped him off at his class while they went to worship.
After worship, my parents returned to pick up James, and the teacher had a very somber look on her face. She said, "Mrs. Hunt, can I please speak with you?" My mother's heart sank. What in the world had James said or done?
The teacher pulled my mother aside and spoke very softly. "We think your son needs help. Maybe a special counselor or something."
Mom replied, "What did he do? Why do you say that?"
The teacher said, "We had all the kids sit in a circle during class. We passed around a baby Jesus doll as we told them the story of Jesus' birth. Each child held the baby for a moment and then passed the doll on to the next child. When your son held the baby Jesus, he looked very intently >>>>> Read Entire Post

First Chicken Sandwich
Loving these memories of the first time listeners like you ate at Chick-Fil-A.
From "Beth"
Allen,
I usually just listen to the Radio when I’m in the car. I was on the way home from special music at Church last night. You were talking about Chick fil A.
In the 60’s our family lived near Greenbriar Mall. In 1969 we moved to Peachtree City. To shop I would leave home to get to the Greenbriar Mall by 10:00. Shop, get a chick fil A sandwich and a coke for .85 cents. Eat it on the way to shop at Ft. McPherson.
Chick fil A is the >>>>> Read Entire Post

Slapped by Love
God slapped me around a bit in my prayer time today. Here's what I experienced. If it helps you, great. If not, carry on. But the experience helped me to clarify what my own Advent season needs to focus on.
The goal of my life is to love God. Period.
My aim is not to be comfortable and healthy with lots of good stuff.
My purpose is not to fullfill a list of tasks and to-do's as if my life consisted of things to be done.
My objective is not merely to love people who love me in return while ignoring those who hate me or those who cannot love me back.
My hope is not found in church attendance or in eliminating curse words from my vocabulary.
My life's work is not to accumulate lots of funds for my >>>>> Read Entire Post
